Two buddies and I went spearing last Thursday off the coast of São Paulo, Southeastern Brazil. We did well on some reefs near Queimada Island. Check picture below:

I miss Brazil. I did a mission for my church in Rio Grande du Sul 18 years back. Not able to dive at that time, but loved the people there. Is there a lot of spearfishing going on? Would be a great excuse to get back. Is there any diving down south at all?

Yes and no. Brazil is considered one of the world spearfishing power-houses. There's no spearfishing off Rio Grande do Sul state. Suitable areas end at Santa Catarina state, particularly near Florianópolis, its capitol city.
