I am new to the forums and the art of freediving and would like to know if anyone else has had experience with any of Sea Horses's pole spear. I currently have a six foot home made aluminum spear I got from my dad. It hits hard and is very sturdy, but it is slow. I am primarily hunting just off the beach in the Pensacola area, and out of the limited variety of fish almost all of them are too fast, or are out of reach for me. The only thing I have really been able to get is stingray, and the occasional mullet or ladyfish that strays too close. I have looked at Lance 'Ohara and Gat-Ku's spear and they seem like great weapons but are a little more than what I was wanting to spend. Although I have read a lot of good reviews on these other spears, I've heard little to nothing on Sea Horse. Should I just give in and get one of the other high-end spears, or are the Sea Horse spears a good pick? I am new to freediving and spearfishing so if you have any other advice to offer it would be much appreciated.

Try the Seahorse carbon if you want to increase speed while staying with the brand.
Personally, I usually use a Gat-Ku. It's fast, and so far it's been plenty adequate for everything up to 10 lb.

Have you looked at the linghunt one? I have used it with great success and the support he provides is second to none.
Contact John at Linghunt great guy to deal with
