Seal Attack In UK

Very interesting report, and certainly informative.

As you say its a shame that the photo's do not appear in the articles.

On the subject of Bluefin, I remember reading some time ago that one of the major factors for the north sea stock dissapearing was due to the overfishing of the Herring stock, which was wiped out and happened to be the main food source of the Bluefin.

Anyone heard of any Albacore in the english channel, they must be around, just not really talked about, as you've said Huan they would be a great target species!

Last year and possibly this year too , Albies were taken just 30 miles west of Castletownbere, County Cork.
At this time of the year there is a lot of Tuna boats fishing just west of Ireland for albacore.
The Albacore seem to follow the 1000m contour line all the way up to Ireland from Biscay and points south, They come right onto the continental shelf south of ireland and should be accessible to a dedicated boat.
I have a video called extreme bluewater action which shows aussie divers chumming albies up and spearing them.
one diver tries to fight off a seal that wants the Albie but thinks better of it!

A Mako was, surprisingly enough, sighted off Cornwall last year Huan, and as much as I want to believe the Padstow sightings, I fail to believe that out of 6 people on board (one a professional photographer) that not ONE photo came out - it sounds a bit fishy to me....More (and sadly) likely a case of Rick "Padstein" drumming up some publicity for the town
