Dark horse: Pemba, Mozambique.​

Sheltered, good vis, warm, close to airport (flights to Maputo, Capital), humpback whales, plenty of depth a few hundred meters from shore, cheap when you are there but could be some hassle with logistics. Hardly any current. I was there in 2009 spearfishing and teaching some freediving.​

In Croatia, there is also the world's deepest water-filled sink hole - the Crveno Jezero, but it won't be suitable for your purpose either. So just for the reference here. You can drive to the rim and park there, but then you need to get +200m deep down the wall to the lake surface. The water visibility is very good, but the temperature just some 8 degrees Celsius.

Interesting place though, and the Croatian freedivers use to dive there. See for example here:

Hi Sebs, you contacted me when i opened my school here last year. I have made a platform down to the first drop anchored at 150M....we can do a much deeper one easily.

Hi all,

In light of the adverse conditions we experienced in France, I'm now ramping-up again for another try at some deep no-limit dives. I've got a short list of some possible locations but I'm always looking-out for better and since its a big planet and I don't know every corner of it, I thought to ask you if knew of any really good spots (first hand-experience only thanks). I have some particular requirements (listed below):

- a really deep water....ideally a vertical drop-off (underwater cliff)
- as close to shore as possible
- sheltered waters, e.g., a small bay, with no swell or wind
- no/little current
- outstanding visibility (+30m-40m)
- warmer rather than colder climate and water, preferably tropical
- close to civilization, not some isolated rock out in the middle of nowhere
- reasonably friendly locals who aren't going to interfere
- access to boats at realistic prices

How deep you're looking for: more then 100 met , more then 200 met ??

Seb, Giglio Island in Italy where the big ship get blocked, e there you can find 100+ metres near the port, and you're 50 metres far from the coast, for logistic no problems at all and cheap prices, i dunno if you got my message on your mail.
