Snake-Like Burbot...

Saskatchewan season started May 2nd in the southern portion, time to get back out. Slow day but had lots of fun.

They aren't very challenging to shoot, but their tastiness more than makes up for it. This is the longest one I've shot - 98cm (38.5"), yet weighing only 8 lbs. As close to a snake as it gets without actually being a snake :-)

Those are great eating, fried in batter. Usually there's a perch or two in the gut when you clean them.
They are hard to find, but worth shooting. Limit in Alberta is 10/day, even for spearos.
 
Have you found any lakes in Alberta that a guy can get to them? I thought possibly Utikima up by lesser slave lake... Its shallow, and also open year round which is probably good for early season when other fish are spawning.... what say you? wanna go up there one day in the spring?
