snorkeling lessons?

I have always wanted to get a job teaching kids how to snorkel.

How do I go about finding one?

No. Where do I go to for that?

(And I don't want to become a full-fledged divemaster either, I just want to teach snorkeling.)

In the UK you can do snorkelling instructor courses. I would google snorkelling instructor courses, find out which agencies you can do courses with in your country and decide which one to go with.

Or the other way is to contact local clubs and pools about learning to snorkel and find out who is teaching the courses and approach them, they can give you valuable insight into how to start along the coaching path.

Consider insurance etc because even if you offer your services for free you would be liable i would imagine if anything goes wrong.

If you are contemplating working with children in the UK, you may be subject to a CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) check, "to help protect children and vulnerable adults by providing a first-class service to support organisations recruiting people into positions of trust." As a teacher in a maintained secondary school in England a year or so ago I had to provide several documents to prove my identity so that the check could be completed. For more information, see:

In PADI (and I think SSI) you need to be a Divemaster to teach snorkelling. I think that in BSAC you can do a snorkel instructor course.

Pretty much everywhere you'll need a CRB check or local equivalent (or at least you should!)

Since you are in Florida, NAUI has a Skin Diving Instructor course you might want to look into. Not sure how much market you would have for it - but I think there is potential if you promote it right.

- open water scubadiver
- advanced open water scubadiver
- advanced open water scubadiver with rescue scubadiver, first aid and CPR

NAUI SDI training will enable you to join NAUI as a leadership member and independently conduct skin diving training. You can also team-teach with a NAUI Instructor, offering the skin diving portion of the Scuba Diver Course.
OVERVIEW

This is a leadership level certification course designed to train and qualify persons and issue certifications in skin (breath-hold) diving.
The course will make available to individuals; schools, camps, or similar groups NAUI Leaders who can effectively teach people to enjoy skin diving with minimal risk.
QUALIFICATIONS OF GRADUATES

• An active-status NAUI Skin Diving Instructor may independently teach the NAUI Skin Diving Course and designated specialty courses as skin diving courses and authorize NAUI to issue certifications for these.

PREREQUISITES FOR ENTERING THE COURSE

• Materials. (See current guide to NAUI membership.)
• Diver Certification. Certified skin or scuba diver by a NAUI recognized agency with a minimum of 25 logged skin dives. Dives shall be varied in environment, depth and activities.

The Skin Diving Instructor certification (formerly Skin Diving Leader) has long been unique to NAUI. It qualifies individuals to train and certify skin divers and conduct snorkeling experience programs.

Both the Assistant Instructor and Divemaster ratings allow individuals to attend an Instructor Training Course (ITC) to be trained and qualified as NAUI Instructors. Completion of an Instructor Preparatory Course (IPC) is recommended prior to participation in an ITC.

• For details on the various certifications and programs, refer to the standards for the specific course or program.
• Active status NAUI scuba instructors are authorized to teach skin and scuba diving and authorize the issuance of certifications. you must understand that skindiving is the step forward next to snorkeling
something between snorkeling and freediving
you must know that if you are to be a NAUI instructor, you must pay a fee to this organisation every year [is not so much....some 200 dollars/year as far as i know]
now i-m a rescue scubadiver and after i will pass my master scubadiver course i will become a skindiver instructor

if you have not the time, the finance or the patience to follow all these steps, you can teach the kids snorkeling under the carrefoull supervising of an certified instructor...
first in the pool, after in the open waters....
but...keep that in mind....this is a very risky bussines....heaving responsabillity for others life...especially kids
