Wow! I'm absoultely blown away by the Shark Week shows!

It certinly made me think twice when I saw a nurse shark this evening. It freaked me out a tod bit.

Why does the freediver guy look really familiar? They sure got some balls of brass!

Does anybody here do any sharking like they do on TV? If you do, could you please tell me if nurse sharks bite? :)

Thanks

Hi Christian,
I used to see nurse sharks in the BVI, and all the locals said not to pull their tails as they can swing back and bite if bothered too much. According to Earl S. Herald in his book "Living Fishes of the World" there are accounts of nurse sharks biting if their movements are interfered with.

Thanks Adrian.

I've been stalked by nurse sharks a couple of times but I guess it's okay as long as I don't stalk it back. :D I tried that the first time. Boy can they swim fast.

hey cayman,

isn't the freediver guy the same as I mentioned in the other post. he is manny puig. you might have seen him in the jackass movie... that is if you saw that. if not he is on the website

your'e right jkivi.

I don't remember him from Jackass tough.. What did he do in that god awful movie? I really loved that paper cut scene! Ouch! And how about that part where the dude is floating in decaying human organs! grahhh!

I checked out the site. And I have to say it's not fare. Megan is sooo Hot. Where do I go and find a hot freediver like that?

I know my problems will end forever when I meet a freediving chick. :D Maybe I should save up money and go to competitions just to meet up with the honeys!

I've found a cool site. Check this out. It tells you some neat facts about shark attacks.

manny was helping in the skits involving the alligators so the guy in the little bunny suit didn't get eatten. He is in a few other scenes too I think but those ones he is just in shock as to what the jackass guys are actually doing.

as for finding a hot freediver... when you solve that problem the solution could be used on this end too. and I am sure by many freediving men around the world. It just seems like all the hottie freedive ladies are already taken... or they just don't live anywhere near Calgary! hehehe :)

Nurse Sharks can bite. They do not consider large mammals food but they do have strong jaws and a tendency to not let go. I wouldn't worry about but don't pester them either. Just to note one of my fellow Californians was killed by a 5 + meter White shark a few days ago so happy swimming.

Posted in Deeperblue breaking news: "Her friend on the beach noticed she was swimming with some seals," Andersen said. “All of a sudden, the seals dispersed rapidly and a large breach of water, this large upwelling of water, occurred in the vicinity of where the woman was swimming.””

Besides breaking the basic rule, “don’t swim with seals” that they said over and over on shark week, there is another lesson. That is safety in numbers (the schooling mentality), only works when you’re not the slowest one!

Mehgan Heaney-Grier,

Now she should have been included in the Frediving Pin Up thread.

swimming w/ seals, and other smelly partners

Avila Beach, the location where the diver was hit isn't reknown as a seal rookery, (it means where seals go to bear and raise their pups) and as such is regarded as being pretty much a regular old place to body surf. That said, if you're in CA you're diving with Whites.

Places you do not wanna be in around or near are at the mouths of rivers and places where the seals, harbor, elephant and Weddels set up shop- Ano Nuevo, Greyhound Rock, a triangle area from Ano to the Farallons and over to Tomales Bay, North Horshoe... pretty much Baja to Anchorage.

So you pays your fare and takes your chances. But in the pre dive process, you want to try to think out any and all ways to minimize the Big Guy's chances. Seal-wisew, I had to push them out of the way last week to reach mid water. A photo illustrating htis will appear in next month's Contest.

If that shark was in Avila, last weekend, crusing at just a few knots it could
be in LA now. Perhaps I'll do something safe this weekend like hanggliding.
