SOS systems ?

what do you recon - vhf with DSC or personal EPIRB [fastfind 220] with GPS and 406.
DSC = immediate response but only within vhf range, or epirb with at least 45minutes response but satelite coverage...
cost is about the same and both would be ok on my banks board, or smartwave 3500... i already have a VHF.

what do you think...?

With regards to spearfishing:
Life will not be saved by immediate response and live will probably not be lost in 45 minutes if it's not already lost. I would go for maximum coverage. It's a problem for others if your missing and not found.

Yep, i went for max coverage with a personal epirb with gps. Bob its not that overkill when you think that some of my dive spots are in a racing tide with next stop usa. Its going to be used for general boating and yakking too so will get carried but hopefully never used!
