Dai - I got a Polosub earlier this year. Nice suits, very supple neoprene, and they smell gorgeous! The smell is a little overpowering to start but after a dive or two... mmmm. I only wish I'd gone slightly tighter on the measurements as after a few months use it seems to have stretched a little.

Which suit did you get? Keeps you nice and warm I hope?! Am going to go for the forza tre suit in 5.5mm.

We had an OK-ish night dive near Plymouth last night. Not too bad out there, viz was poor close in on the sand, but much better our deeper, probably 4-5m. Quite quiet on the fish front. My buddy took a couple of big flounder and a medium sole, and I stabbed a bass with my speargun as I couldn't be bothered shooting it. That was the only bass I saw.
Lots of borderline sole about and a few blonde rays in the mix. We could tell the seasons have changed as it was chilly getting out of the suit! No fish pics I'm afraid.

I've got a 5mm suit. Nylon outside, smooth neoprene inside. Lovely and warm compared to my old scuba suits, but have felt a little cold on the last few dives. Time to don the gloves and vest!

A lot of deep diving this afternoon searching for Plaice. After climbing down the cliff and getting my kit sorted at the waters edge, a wave came in and washed me into the rock I was sat on. No problem usually, but this time my wickedly sharp stringer got in the way, and two inches of steel stabbed me in the top of my thigh. The wound looks small, but it's deep and is aching like a bastard. Moral of the story is, be careful out there. Accidents can happen out of the blue, usually when you don't expect it, normally when you're somewhere remote and unable to call for help.
On the plus side, I carried on with the dive, met Shiny 1 who was out on his boat. He put me on a good mark for future reference. Only took one plaice as my leg was throbbing really bad after an hour. Then I had to climb back up the cliff to the car!

Re you pain fetish with stringers I have mine neatly hidden away covered by my knife tucked behind a bit of old inner tube like this

Decided to get in today , nice weather forecast ( but frosty when I got up !!) I thought the S Hams was expecting a bit of swell so decided to go Torbay instead .... pretty good vis 5-6 metres and the water felt warm , knowing how the bay is not really a great fish area I decided to go and search for scallops and found some in about 10 metres at low tide also a nice flounder , ( no silver fish seen ) so a rather nice day out and it could well be my last dive of the year ...........

I've had a few after work dives this week. Thursday had patchy 3m vis in Dawlish area. There was seaweed all over the place. I caught a 50-60cm grey mullet within two minutes and spent the rest of the dive missing little red mullet, and missed a bass about the same size as the mullet. I think the bass had some kind of force field around it. I'm sure I had the shot lined up. Took a last minute flounder before getting out.
Friday I finished work early and went to Babbacombe. Unfortunately I'd forgotten it was friday, and found a few scuba divers down there. 4-5m vis. Still a nice dive, but unsurprisingly I saw no good fish. Lots of small lobsters and baby whiting were out after dark.
I tried Dawlish again last night, but the vis was down to <50cm. Disappointing, and a bit strange as the sea was still calm?? Because of Low tide maybe?

I'm hoping there will be some vis left for tomorrow afternoon. :panda: Why is there a panda?

Was greeted by this at local Tesco yesterday. Something to do with a report of a man with a speargun down his trousers seen at the scene of a serious accident.

Strong SE coming in, teignmouth big swell today very little viz. conditions like that would make you sick fairly quickly. Thought you're only hope sheltered spot in the bay - iffy?
Or other side south hams, I'm possibly going Tuesday evening if cams look ok tomorrow. Will be a new spot for me, so quite excited, trying to get the bug back. mirror nooooooooooo don't let that be your last dive.

Was hoping for a Tuesday night dip. Web cams are showing me otherwise unless anybody can tell me differently. Only place I've seen that's fairly calm is hope cove but looks like a bit of colour in the water. Very high tide haven't seen it over breakwater before when calm

I was planning a trip to hope cove today, but like you I was put off by the colour of the water on the webcam. It looks like the vis is all gone, and the forecast isn't good. :( Maybe there will be vis on the north coast? Port Isaac? Or is it time to take up surfing?

Check Loving the beach and East Prawle cams. All you need to know I'm afraid mate. Strong SW until at least Tuesday.

I went down to Babbacombe last night. Vis was 2-3m. Better than I'd expected. There was a lot of life but I didn't see anything to catch. Asides from spring time cuttlefish, I don't recall ever catching anything at Babbacombe. I'm not sure why I bother going down there... Oh yes, it's easy. The lazy option. Damn my laziness!

Yes Babbacombe does seem to be a pretty fishless spot ! I have had small bass nearby ( no longer legal now ) and the occasional mullet but mostly shellfish , I do not take cuttlefish from here . It is an easy spot for locals but I doubt many people travel far to dive here ( except scuba divers ) The often poor vis does not help much either but it is usually where I do my first dive of the season , just to get back in to the feel of things really...

Any updates for East devon appreciated for Friday. NW should still be around breezy though. Teignmouth and the bay patchy. Brixham looked ok 3-4 m

I have not seen all the details but it would appear there is to be a 6 month ban on Bass fishing starting January 2016 ( except for some inshore fleets ) anglers can catch Bass but they must be released ... not really an option for us !!... Although this time of the year is not really bass season I am sure a few of the dedicated ( especially some night divers ) will be greatly affected by this ....if any one knows more details and would be kind enough to post on here I am sure it will be appreciated ...many thanks .. Terry .. ( It is also been decided after the 6 month ban there is a new 1 fish per day allowance ( previously 3 )
