Hello stranger!

I've only dived a few times in N Devon, both times dived rocky outcrops at the end of one of the beaches. Winds going easterly so should be calm, just hope bloom isn't building. Taken bass on each dive, so Good luck buddy.

Tried diving a spot between Dawlish and Teignmouth yesterday. All milky going down, then vis was pretty bad >1m on the bottom. Couldn't see further than the end of my gun. Boo bad vis, boo.

Got in for the first couple dives last week while back in Cornwall, nothing to show for it but nice to be back in the water. Was wondering what the East Devon vis has been like and if anyone needs a buddy for the season?

Cheers mate, unfortunately once the pushchair, luggage, car seat, carrier, food and fishing gear was loaded into the car it was deemed there was no room for the spearfishing gear. Considered leaving the wee man at home but as it was his first birthday thought it a bit harsh. Went down to a place called Buck's Mill near Clovelly and the water looked decidedly soupy so would have been a waste of time anyway I guess. Still awaiting the opportunity for the first trip of the year.....

Looked at the sea at Sidmouth today then swam at Beer, horrid conditions, 6" vis at best, will be a while before this even gets halfway like spearable. Nice to have a float and play in the dump though

Does anyone know what the sea is looking like around Torquay? I'm hoping for a diveable Tuesday.

Babbacombe looked pretty good last night , clear and calm , might go for a dip myself tomorrow if the weather is nice ...

Went in South of Babbacombe earlier today for first dive of the year, viz was ok, mainly 3m but in some more sheltered spots upto 5-6m. Loads of jellyfish though, never seen so many had to turn back at one point there was so many. Apart from the jellyfish not much else life seen, I did see one very large pollack but think I was more surprised to see him than he was. Once I realised what it was didnt even get a shot off. I went in leading upto high tide, so jellyfish may not have been such an issue on an ebbing tide.

Patchy 2-5m in around Torquay today. Loads and loads of bait fish, lots of wriggly planktonic type things , quite a few little jellyfish, and some cuttlefish. Oh and lots of sizable crab. Spider, brown and velvet crab. I like spider crab. Never need to came back empty handed while the spider crabs are here!

Viz updates for anyone south devon. Just ran coastal path teignmouth to babbacombe approx 8 miles with the sea on my left all the way and it was brown, brown and a hint of lighter brown!!
Divers going in at babbacombe but a stiff breeze was making that a battle.

Coming down to South Devon tomo and Sunday to Freedive and looks like it won't happen the vis all gone ?

Just checked some web cams for you. Winds meant to be going NW so should have some sheltered spots. Blackpool sands looking ok, brixham, paignton will be flat and viz looks possible. Babbacombe was brown yesterday with divers saying max 1m further offshore. Anything bigbury side will probably be affected by the winds. Let us know if you go.

Ok cheers scumpy on way down at the moment I'm staying near heybrook but will go anywhere for some vis. Are you around at all ?
