South Devon report 2007

DIved shoalston (spelling?) yesterday and had a great dive.
viz was about 2 meters and there was a fair bit of crap floating about. I saw a nice shoal of mullet the biggest been around the 5lb mark.Its a nice spot but the tidal rip does bother me a bit but since I dont dive in deep water it doesnt effect me too much. on my way back I missed what would of been my first bass of the season but missed due to my gun failing.

Im now looking at getting a nice pneumatic speargun if any1 has any recomendations?

Hi

Went a saw a spot called Anstey's Cove if thats how its spelt down Torbay way. It looks cracking, does anyone know alot about it. It looks deep over the far side. I normally dive Budleigh in about 4m max with no weight, what might i need down there?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

The spear jammed on the way out:vangry . I might get some mono line and some smaller crimps as it should solve the problem, Ive had a look at the airguns and cressi does some really nice and pretty well rated ones so might put a bit of thought into it.

Jimy, a pneumatic gun doesn't lose any pressure when you fire it, the compressed air acts as a spring. Pneumatics need no more maintenance than any other speargun.
Scott, if you are interested in an air gun I would strongly recommend you buy a mamba kitted one. (Dave sells them) Standard airguns dont really match the performance of a band gun - not for what we use them for anyhow. However a mamba "will" have far more power than you are used too!!

Err yes of course in fact I have three mambas in my shed, two 90s & a 115 (asso). Scott if you are interested there is just loads of info on db but Medfish has even more. You can find some of my custom guns on their site too.

I was wondering how long it would take until fox fish got his tail in a twist!!!

only playing...air guns are grate,,,,but im just a ruber guy.

Havnt realy used ait guns but would love to try a copale,..

Scott if you set up a rubber gun like you would a air gun ie put a slider on the spear you will never have that prob again .I used a air gun for 30yrs now using a rubber one its a lot better ! but its all in the set up -key word slider if i can help let me know DAVE O(EXE SPEARFISHING CLUB)

right just put an order in with Dave for some mono line, new rubbers, crimps and a boingie for my gun. After having a good look at my setup I can see its the way I have set my rig up. DAVeO Im not sure I follow where the slider will go. ANY PICS????

Hi Dave, have you ever tried a mamba air gun? Very different from a standard air gun, no recoil & far more power, very smooth to fire. :)
