Great post Birchy, I can relate to those problems.

Right here we go. As Shiny said I was suited and bang gone. I got in the water and pulled the bands back to load the gun. BUT the other day when my wishbone came undone I didn't realise that when tightened it back up I had the wishbone upside down so it wouldn't lock in :waterwork I sat on the rocks trying to undo the rubbers to spin it round but I had done them up with grips and couldn't budge them. I had taken my watch and gloves off, I keep my car key in one. I put them on the rocks whilst I tried to fix the problem. I walked back to my car and realised I didin't pick up the key or my watch. I threw my kit under my car and ran back to where I was and thankfully found my key. Back to the car. Knocked on someones door and borrowed some grips to sort the problem. Back down to the water and unbelievably found my watch. Got in. Saw a few Bass and mullet, the usual pollack and a couple dog fish. I shot a nice mullet and a few small pollack. I was due to work 5pm-8pm but got there about 5:30 :naughty I am going to take tomorrow night off and get some cover. Shiny and I are having another go tomorrow. I have bought one of those Gopro cameras so I am going to buy some decent batteries in the morning and hopefully take some video. Probably see Shiny laughing at the Frank Spencer of the spearing world. I'll have my biggest Bass to date tomorrow, caught on camera. Kiss of death or what.

Ok shiny , I think this farce has gone on long enough . This talk about secret spots and ancient fishing lore passed down though the generations is all cobblers . So you just fess-up and tell your buddies on db , where it was you found the keys to Plymouth Aquarium , then we'll say no more about it . In fact we'll all come and join you for a midnight paddle in the Atlantic tank :t .

( Seriously , well done on some stunning catches in a year dominated by crap weather and poor vis , top man ) .

Bish and Birchy you are great. Here I am landlocked and suffering from a cold while Shiny and others land great fish thinking "if only I could get out there and catch a few myself" and then you two remind me that I would quite likely come back without the big bass anyway rofl

Scott, you have a point. Can't keep letting shiny's personal bass school get bigger and bigger. Maybe some will escape his mystical force and x-ray vision and head elsewhere. Peer group pressure eh! Whats it like!

hi all any one no what the viz is like thinking of going tommorow with peter. devon or cornwall. great fish shiny1 keep it up. happy hunting

jumped in for an hours dive tonight. viz was nice around 4 meters in the sandy gullys, saw bass and small pollack, the bass really light up in the beam of the torch, the smaller ones didnt seem bothered about the light but the bigger ones didnt stick around for long. got out empty handed but always good to get wet.

no flatties seen but plenty of bait fish around and the odd wrasse.

DAVE L I got your message mate, Very nice choice

yeah nice fish this time of year Neale! Well done...and out shooting the 'ol man - always a pleasure when one does that

lovely haul Neale, long may it continue. I'm thinking of possibly having a go in the morning but that will be on the incoming tide. We all seem to fish a while before low and not so much on the incoming. Only way to learn is to have a go I suppose. If not I'm hoping to go with Shiny1 on Saturday, 1st light.

If shore diving i use to always favour the dead low tide but never managed to get much until i had been in for a while. Now i always try to get in on the push and usually avoid getting in just before low. Much better results now. This year i have had more, bigger fish than any other year. Not quite as grand as shiny1's usual haul but i have a sneaky suspicion that he was down our way early on in the year and fleeced our share of big bass!!!

hi clive thanks, dads been given the all clear with his heart and booked his trip in jan to new zealand again lucky devil .he,s hoping to beat his own record off 27kg kingfish wish i was going happy hunting

I bet the fish on those reefs are great but my problem is that if the wind is over 10mph, maye 12 at the tops, it is unsafe to paddle out there so far and spring tides are a no go due to slack water lasting a measley 15-20 min! I am just waiting for the chance to get out there though.

In tomorrow morning on the flood tide and if possile i may try that new spot i tried before but this time on the high tide!

Wow! that is not a bad fishing neal well done!!
I was talking to tribs tonight when he told me about your big bass i cloud not wait to go back home to look at the picture we looking to go to Budleigh salterton on the reef i hope we would see his brother maybe.
