Hey James,

Been in at Budders today and if you can imagine mud and chocolate sauce mixed together then thats what it looked like today! North1 and I battled galantly out to the blue/brown water divide but when we dived down the silt was all sat on the kelp. YuKKKK!!!!!!!!!!!!

hoping to get the orkney out soon and troll for bass in the murk.

Hung around at Buds after the dive with tribs. It turned out to be a nice afternoon. Had a fish for a while, but I don't think the fish could see the feathers in the soup.
I will keep an eye on the water and if it clears up toward weekend I'll give it another go.
How's everyone else doing around Devon? Must be doing better than me.

Scott,
do you dive around Ansteys? I used to like diving there. I was saying to Tribs that we should maybe try further afield. So maybe we should try some of the old haunts of Babacombe, Redgate, Meadfoot when this easterly eases up. Could be interesting.
Let us know.

Im up for that mate. could fit most of them in a day really as they 5 minutes drive from each other.

I havent dived Ansteys for a long time as the walk up the hill damn near killed me :) .

ps: Meadfoot is always my first choice as far as a dive goes but it can be hit and miss

Anyone going to suggest what the viz will be like down in the Bigbury Bay area tomorrow after these easterlys???

any tips will be greatly appreciated; its a long way to drive from budleigh to encounter poor viz.

Had a good day diving in Plymouth yesterday, vis was a up to 5mtr which surprised me considering the amount of rain we have had of late. Plenty of fish about, a couple small Thornback rays, large shoals of Pollack some were of a take able size, even plenty of nice sized bass about but were easily spooked.

Luckily one made a wrong turn in the string weed. 4lb 15 ¾ oz (digital scales, don’t you hate them)

Hi Tribs bad luck on the timing today mate. will have to try again maybe when the water clears in torbay.

Dived 4 hours today, very fishless for the first 2 hours only saw the usual wrasse and baby pollack.

dived into a sandy spot to see if any pollack would come over for a closer look and spied a flatty on the move to my left lined the gun up and missed :head

moved to another spot and finally found where all the fish were hiding, nice long string weed around 5 meters deep, viz was a bit crud but doable

lined up on a bass and missed :head:head. found another bass and missed again:head:head:head I dont know what the hell was going on with my aim today but I couldnt hit a fat woman in a phone box.

dived deep into the kelp and finally bagged my one and only fish of the day ,a nice bass which was baked and served with mushroom pasta and an ice cold bud.



I got bored at work the other day so came up with this very cheap ( £0) but workable camera mount. Ive had my camera for around 8 months now and I think its time to upgrade as the quality is pants and I always feel let down when I view the clips as you will see in the video below

Sorry I had to bail early but The Spearing Permission Officer must be adhered to! Only joking, really she's great but I needed to get back and like you said I hadn't seen anything apart from a few borderline pollack. Did look for Flatties on the sand but didn't see a one.

Buzz me soon when the bay looks on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The viz was fantastic this morning,pollack everywhere feeding on the large shoals of sandeels,mackeral darting in taking there share,all this happening in the string weed,i knew it would'dt be long before i forgot about the early start and the cold and there he was coming towards me for a look at the black shape moving through his feeding patch,number 1, a nice 4lb 7oz bass,the coldness gone and im wide awake.I seen a few bigger fish but unable to get a shot off in this thick string weed.I had a few more in the 3lb range and 2 nice mullet the biggest 3lb 8oz.

Nice one Shiny1, a real haul!!! Been out in the boat instead of on the spear and had two nice bass on floatfished sandeels, back in when my snotty cold clears from my ears- talk about frustrating!!!

Went out with Doc today on his boat. We cruised over to Cawsand dived on the ledges to the east and then at the point to the south west. Right off the bat we were both greeted by a nice mullet. (The same mullet - I was a good 20m away from Doc) sadly I hadn't got my gun ready in time.

Viz was moderate to poor. Lots of crap in the water. Saw a few pollack getting up to a reasonable size. Shot a smallish one (1lb ish) for dinner. Only fired twice today. sigh.

Cheers to Doc for a great day on his boat.

Hey all.

I'm going in for a dive at Heybrook or Bovisand tomorrow (if the weather isn't too rank) at about 4pm if anyone wants to meet up. PM me.

Went to Heybrook on Friday afternoon. It rained all the time I was there. Viz was ok with a bit of algae in the water. I got a big spider crab, and a nice bass on the way back in. Not too bad for a quick hour.

Dived today, no fish taken but plenty seen, had a school of bass circling me for about 10 mintues nothing bigger enough so just enjoyed the moment.

Winds are changing soon with some much needed westerys, im re rigging the kayak to be a bit more dive friendly and with a bit of luck will get a wetting on wednesday.

Maybe we can get an unofficial Plymouth Spearo club together.
