Hiya James T, all the flat fish were shot in the shallows, about 8ft of water roughly. I tried out deep at first shooting the mackerel and a couple of cuttles. Then gave up on that idea and moved in close and came upon the fish.

Haha Cooking on gas Dave! nothing like a high octane evening dive to get the 'Mojo' pumping. Normally we only see the odd one or two flatties to be honest, but we obviously found the motherload the past couple of nights. On the other hand i didn't see a single bass. But then again when i am on a flattie bashing mission the bass do tend to get forgotten.
Still need to get my hands on timmy the turbot and barry the brill though!!

Been enjoying your reports as i'm stuck with a cold thats blocking everything, great!!!!! Just wondering which Gab you have and in which length? I have a 90 Elite but was thinking of replacing my cheaper shorter 75 gun with a shorter Gab. Opinion??????????????

I have a 90 elite minus the reel mate and my 75 is a picasso century. Both are good little guns with plenty of power, i like the picasso as its closed muzzle with a nice line release and basic, however the safety catch is about to get super glued. Who ever decided it was a good idea to put safety catches on spearguns was a complete chopper! The gabbiano is a nice gun, but i am not a mega fan of open muzzles and i don't really like the line release all that much. I like guns that can be reloaded quickly with no messing around.
I think if i were to buy a new 75 or 90 i would try something new and go for the omer xxv, nice and slim line (although the carbons not needed). The cuttle fish shape is nice for tracking horizontally but a pain in the arse when tracking vertically.
Then again mate, a gun is only as good as the bloke using it and they will all kill fish. I have a Mamba 90 which is great as its mega short and maneuverable but i have trouble hitting a barn door at 10 paces with the thing somedays! (thats why its in the garage collecting dust at the moment.)

Took the kayak out for a dive yesterday after work. got in at meadfoot slipway and made my way to a few spots ive had my eye on for a while.
the first looked like a good pollack spot but only saw boring old bass and mullet
deepest dive was 8 meters but only saw a few small pollack and none of the big boys i was hoping for.
spent a good 3 hours and covered a fair amount of ground and found a lot more fishing ground then I thought I would. Viz was between 1 to 3 meters clearing up closer to the bottom.
the mods I made to the kayak have really paid off as theres less clutter then before although I need to sort the anchor system out so the rope goes to the front. bought a trolley over the weekend which makes life a damn site easier and also means I dont have to keep going back and forth from the car to load the kayak.
"fixed my camera" by giving it a good clean on the lense roflrofl

thanks for posting the pics of your kayak scott,it looks great,i can't dive at the moment got a blocked sinus but am trying to sort it out,hows the viz where you are??
