Was thinking anywhere from Babbacombe to Hopes Nose, high tide at 12 ish so get in around 9 or 10 am?

I dived the bay today, the strong winds put a fair amount of chop in the water and a bit of swell but very doable, dived the meadfoot size so had the full whack of the wind but a good dive all the same.

Bagged a 3lb mullet out of a big shoal . The viz was around 2 to 3 meters which is typical for Meadfoot.

Im diving tomorrow in the morning so might bump into you but im under strict instructions to be back my 12 ( going for lunch) by the other half.

I was going to do the fillets in a beer batter but might save one fillet for a curry tomorrow, actualy sounds damn good.

Scott, In a SW wind Meadfoot is a bit exposed. Hope that viz is better round the Nose where it should have been sheltered for a few days.

Just got out from Budders at 10pm and although it looked really fishy and clear, I didn't see a sausage. Nothing but pout and those standard two inch pollack.
disappointing.

Myself and Tong went for a dive this evening in Heybrook bay. Viz was quite good, about 3-4 meters. I only saw some school bass, and took one for tea tomorrow. We swam around Renny rocks towards the Mewstone, but didn't see anything else, except one large spooky bass, so just had a look for crabs, and didn't see any of those either!

It was good to be in the water, laying in the kelp, with the sun shining through. Really relaxing and chilled out diving. And my bottom times are improving, now up to 1:30.

jez & I did the long quarry hopes nose dive on saturday.4 & a half hours later,not a sausage except a 6lb wrasse for a fish curry,the few mullet we saw were skittish to say the least,saw a lot of spider crabs mostly females but left the biggest male t
have some fun with the ladies,didn't see any seahorses but quite a few starfish,the vis was superb 5-7m i know, wow!
excellent day apart from losing my mask in 30' of water, it was a lucky stevie wonder search i found it ,cut my hands to bits on the rocks searching for it in the kelp cos i hate wearing gloves,lesson not learnt,will try maidencombe & north from there on wed/thurs will let you know ifits

Felipe Broadsands is a good place for sea horses just watch out for the daft idiots on Jetski's.

Ive never dived hopes nose as the currents are supposed to be strong but its always a hotspot for fisherman. How did you lose your mask?

I got in the water today and took a nice dover sole for the pot. Although to be honest it was hard diving for only the one fish, 90% of my dives were all to around the 8/10meter mark in less than 2 meter vis. I had one mullet swim directly beneath me whilst breathing up on the surface and saw a shoal of garfish but that was the lot (bar the usual wrasse and pollock). Not one bass seen in 2 and a half hours diving. DOH!

Got in today at Anstey's. Went at a bad time (2 hours before until 1 hour after low tide) but vis was still up to 4m in places. Lots of smallish pollack around plus a few nice sized but very skittish mullet and a couple of distant bass. Missed a couple of shots at high speed mullet so came home empty handed but good to see that they are there.

Will be heading to Devon again this year, for a low carbon, highly selective and sustainable family holiday. Had a brilliant holiday last year. Heading a bit further south this time. Would have been happy to return to the same place as last year (inland of Dartmouth) but was told we had to explore somewhere new. So South Hams it is. It's cheating really, as we did visit a couple of spots in this general area but *they were good* (definitely more exposed to the elements though). We'll re-visit some places that were good last year but will mainly look for new places along the coast between Salcombe and Plymouth. Will probably do some evening rod fishing too. Last year I dived so much I didn't get much chance to fish with the rod.

We had decide not to go away at all this year but were persuaded to go. So this has been a pleasant surprise - really looking to it, already.

Where I live this would be perfect; in fact virtually all spearos in Guernsey dive over the low!

hi scott, sorry i didn't get back to you sooner. i lost the mask cos i got out the water after 3 hours to try & unblock my sinus, it was causing forehead pain,so anyway i put my mask between my knees got hit by a wave & the next 25 mins were a nightmare trying to dive blind in 30' of water in a kelp bed 2 miles from the entry point to find my mask,iwouldn't mind if it was top grade but ive had that dacor mask 15 years,ok don't laugh its like one of those masks on the film abyss seriously high volume jobby but it fits so perfectly,goto admit it,it did scare me when i lost it although i don't like to admit it,i found it but i cut up my hands on the rocks seaching the bottom of the ledge,it might be a great idea to invest in a yak like yourself at least you can carry all your gear & spares & fishing rod,food,drink etc. i'll stop there now cos i'm only jealous of your set up, by the way thanks for the info on broadsands but i try & avoid p*ssed jetskiers using me as a marker for their turns, maybe try a weekday before the grockles turn the water yellow in the summer holidays & drive the fish away, don't you just know you've got to go to the more remote spots,but hell, i love a challenge
