Went for a dive this evening,the sea was flat calm and looked so inviting. On reaching the waters edge i could see with out getting in the viz wasnt up to much. The water was very cloudy,if i hadn't of walked so far i wouldnt of got in. I covered lots of ground before i bumped into my first bass,i was nose to nose with him before i seen him. He was gone with a flick of the tail.
There was a young lady in front of me when walking down the cliff path and she became a distraction for me. She stripped off for a bit of nude sunbathing and man she was a babe.
Anyway back to the dive. I was now diving on a sandy patch,this sometimes holds a few flatties but none home tonight. I didnt really hunt it proper what with the bad viz and the young lady on the beach.
I did come down on top of a red mullet which darted off into the gloom them return for a close look at me. First fish on the stringer.
Around to the next bay now,still bad viz but no babes on the beach so kept my head down hunting and soon had a 4lb mullet. Lots more ground covered with nothing seen. Then i caught site of something white moving below me in the weed. Looking closer i could see the shape of a nice size bass. He's about 7lbs and either been speared before and ripped off or had seal damage. He was on the stringer now and i decided to make my way back to the beach. Picked up another bass before i got out of about 3lbs. The beach was empty when i got back, pity lol

Next time you are doing your impression of a Navy Seal, do me a favour and get some decent photos of the target.

Belated congratulations Dan! I'm a bit behind with the news. Just got home from a 2000 mile motorcycle holiday of Normandy and Brittany. Its good to see everyone has been catching while I've been away.

Went off for a shore dive with Shiny today. Typical greenhorn start for me, I had taken about a hundred paces and thought "I'm sure I'm missing something". Nothing important it was only the gun!!!!! lol.

Nice dive with a couple bass taken and an edible crab.

Shiny struggled today. Never mind boy it happens to the best of us

You boys were out in a real snotty sea! Watched you from the reef, as I couldn't get the boat off the beach in the chop. Well done Dan, were they where the coloured water met the clear?

Hi all,

Any of you guys at Rame Head saturday? I was on the phone with work & kind of didn't get a chance to say Hi & chat unfortunatly. Was well windy down there, I had a quick bash with the rod but only a tiny pollack.

I saw Trelawney on the ferry with gun in car, I guess it's a permanent fixture or he has been & caught nowt:t

He is usually good on the catch reports.

Must go shoot some fish next week, would be nice to post a pic & report!

I'll do my best.

Not saturday as I was yacht racing to Fowey , beers:friday and england's version of world cup footie meant a late start on sunday. plan was to look at the rennies but we by passed and went straight to rame western gear. Great Viz but pretty quiet bass wise. saw an enormous shoal of Mackerel chasing sandeels and a Wild Salmon!! 2nd in 4 years off cornwall (no he's still in the sea dont worry:naughty) Better luck off the degaussing range with a single bass but the hangover was kicking in by then so saw bas but missed them in the murk.
no more dips for me for a bit as I'm having my Knee fixed tomorrow:crutch.
BTW what happenned to portland oceaneering?? where do you get your rubbers from now??

Any of you guys thinking of joining us for the Portland Pairs comp? Will be a good laugh and very informal, a chance to meet other spearos and its not about big catches but specimen fish - so largest fish of each species. There should be a good turnout based on contact from around the country.
