Went for a fish last Thursday at rame thought I would give the new spinning rod a go, saw a few salmon leaping a beautiful sunset and what can only be described as a pod of killer whales???, at first I thought it was dolphins on closer viewing they were killer whales three in total they looked huge even from 500 yards. Is that even possible was wandering if anybody else has had any close encounters with free willy!!

hi lads i was told last night that two spearos had gone missing/or very late back to there car like past 11pm not sure if the services where called. Can any one put light to this comment a pm would be good Daveo

I had a nice quiet dive whilst England were trying to play football. I got a parking spot next to the path, and the beach was deserted. Brilliant for a sunny Saturday afternoon at 6pm! The water was gin clear and flat calm. Most of the time was spent on aspetto as it was really difficult to stalk anything. Not many big fish around though. I shot a 3lb bass, a similar size pollock and picked up a nice spider crab on the swim back in. No flatties seen, normally there are quite a few at that spot. I was in for two hours and it was still warm at 8pm.

been in the last 2 days as some poeple know sorry if we got anyone worried :head

here is the results not alot of fish but some .saw more than got and some bad shots i have to admit.

Dived yesterday after work to try for a Ray. The viz was good at 6 meters but dropped as the tide came in to about 4 meters.

Swam around for a bit waiting for the sun to set, eyed up a few big spiders but left them for another day.

As the sun dropped I swam over to my flattie spot to find it unusually quiet, found a nice flattie and he was soon on the stringer shortly followed by a Lobster I found out for a walk along the reef.

Spent an Hour looking for a ray but blanked so called it quits and got out. Made the long walk back to the van and took in the calm night along the way :)

Ive fixed a torch on the camera mount to help search for flatties which worked out pretty well.

Hi All,
Tried tonight even though I knew it would be crap. It didn't disappoint - It was proper crap! Stayed in about 30 mins then surfed some 4-5ft swells back in over the reef on the dive hunter which was amazing!

Bigbury for the weekend then!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi All
went in today as a friend offered a trip on his sail boat - we sailed a couple of hours east from plymouth to a reef that I know a few of you are familiar with (I`ll not say to make sure I dont upset anyone). The vis was fantastic 6-8 m, lots of small pollack and plenty of wrasse around. Saw a big blue/silver shape about 6m below so dived down to investigate, as I swam down I realised it was a fair sized bass - I reckon about 8lb. It was intent on getting out of there so I took a chance and squeezed off a shot into the blue in front of him, unfortunately it missed.

Carried on hunting around for another half hour or so and spotted another bass heading away from me, I tried to fin towards him but he stepped on the gas an escaped into the blue. Encouraged, I carried on hunting until I spotted another Bass I dove down and finned towards it. He started moving off but I was close enough to take a fairly confident shot, there was a ping of the spear and then a flash of scales, I must have just glanced him - absolutely gutted;and let out a underawater roar - then proceded to nearly drown.

I think my gun might need new bands again, that last shot was pretty good and I think it should have done the job, but it didnt. How often does everyone else change their bands? these were new in september.

I decided to head back to the boat but then I realised that I had been moved quite a lot by the tide, in fact it took me about 30 minutes to get back.

Gutted I`m not eating bass tonight but I really enjoyed the dive and will definately hit that spot again.
