I went in near Looe yesterday at a secret spot (talland bay... shhh ) and vis was disappointing 2 -4 metres and very little sign of fish . Today I took a trip to north cornwall by motorbike to check out a few potential spots and the vis (viewed from shore ) looked very good indeed ,also some beautiful spots wether fishy or not I do not know !!
Hi All,
Fished off the rocks last night with rod and line with peeler crab and the sea was full of fish. I went back today and the sea was empty, not even a wrasse or doggy seen in an hour. Vis 4m in places and better but got rapidly worse further out.

Good dive today, took a few good spider crab for a BBQ party this afternoon. Biggest was a lovely 5lb 9oz spider crab. Picture below...!
Viz was not good until you got 3-4m down so no fish taken...
Is this worth entering FOM with?
Did you have any luck at the weekend at bigbury....my mate said he saw u getting out and chatted to u?
2 years ago, when I first got in to spearfishing I was at hallsands in a shorty wetsuit, short fins and armed with a £40 speargun. I Met an older Spearo (when I say older I mean older than me at 37) I swam over to him with a stringer of nice mullet and a bass, he commented "I thought you was just another tourist with a gun, now I'll take that back seems as you've otfished me today" anyhow we had a little chat whilst I was shivering my arse of in a shorty,, he's advice he gave me was "mate you need to get yourself a proper Spearo suit" yeah right I thaught,,,,, what's the point in that when I have my lovely shorty surfing suit!!! The following week I kitted myself out with all the 'proper' gear and a cressi technica wetsuit; best thing I'd ever done!
I would just like to say thank you to that S Devon Spearo; are you on here? He was local to hallsands or beesands and older than 37 and seen him on other visits; last was with my mate In a blue SOT kayak, well that narrows it down???? Lol, anyway thanks for getting me into it.

Went in for the first time this year Wednesday eve in Torbay and the vis was around 3m. Didn't see any bass as I was hoping to but nice to see one of my favourite marks with better weed growth than last year. Missed a large mullet from point blank and saw a few others and was feeling confident but my worn out wetsuit didn't allow me long in the (to me) cold water.
New wetsuit on the birthday list me thinks. Anyone got any ideas of good vis for the weekend? This northeasterly will scupper Torbay for a while...

Going on my first venture into Devon waters on Monday as I am working at Lympstone until midday, low water at Lyme is at 1305. Are the tides at Sandy Bay 15 mins before at a guess?
If anyone fancies a dip PM me for my number, be happy to receive some advice. Had a look at some historical posts, so thanks for the 3 hrs before high tide tip Budleigh Spearo...

Good luck finding any viz.
But from the beach swim along the headland on the left side of the beach...just below the Marines shooting range.
It's a fair old swim, but it's not worth diving till you reach at least the end of that headland...keep swimming out a good old way to find best ground.
If its big tides it can be furious the with the tide so watch out....I've swam against that tide to get back to beach and almost had a cardiac arrest ha ha
It's 5 quid parking there now which is crap...but I work on the beach so
lolI've just got back in from a dive to one of my favourite lobster grounds. Unfortunately, there were no lobsters, but I did manage to snag a nice edible crab. I only saw one lone bass of about 2lb and some small pollock. The water was a bit chilly, about 11 deg, but there was 10m+ viz.

Without giving away your lobster spot where was this vis (roughly) as i am having a day off wednesday and would like some good vis (Torbay not good at the mo but may check tomorrow) Did the cat and crab get any closer ? !!
Anywhere round Plymouth is good at the moment, as it's been an offshore wind so is relatively calm. Penlee and Rame are clear, but might have a bit of swell.
Pants still isn't sure about crustaceans. He gives them a sniff and occasionaly bats them.

Hi all whent in on monday with dan and i can said that the viz here is not 10m + more like 10 cm+ very milky water we struggle to find any viz bump into few dog fish manage to get one nice 3.5lb mullet and a 3lb lobby we could here the fish just could not see them very fustrating dive nice to be on the water
