Hi all dived last night at sandybay had one big bass one smaller and a big mullet ,met up with the best chef in Devon conpaired notes and my catch was as good as his. the thing that worried me was two torquay boys diving with one float well in the water but not together someone looking to get there head knocked off

Diving from a boat you need to stay as close to it as you would a float. Never saw you stay that close to your rib Dave. On a few occasions at sandy bay I remember you almost getting your head knocked off because you had no float and had swam a long way from the rib. "two Torquay boys".....now how could you possibly know that? Hair dresser...not a mind reader.
If your going to give advice....by the absolute minimal it's somewhat nessasary to use that advice your self.

Anyone know if the Thurlstone/Hope area will have decent viz tomorrow? Was planning on Torbay but guess the easterly tomorrow will scupper things? Reading all these great catch reports and all I've managed are two trips/two blanks in murky water.....grrrrr
It is looking promising ,it has been pretty calm for a while ,I keep an eye on a webcam (cottage hotel webcam ) which gives a great view of the cove ,but can never be sure of vis ! If you do venture that way tomorrow then It would great if you could give a report as I may well head that way this weekend myself .
I was in there today for a very quick dive. Viz 3-4m max, and quite patchy. Clear thermocline with some better viz underneath at about 7m. Numerous small pollock, a few small spiders and no bass, although i went at low tide because the twins were asleep and i got some 'Daddy time'...
I am sure if i had been in for more than 35 mins i would have had some reasonable fish, no mullet seen though. I missed a pollock of about 3lb. Some really BIG wrasse spotted, very pretty.

Hey guys, popped in from the Dorset thread for a vis report.. any one been in the hallsands or hope cove area willing to give me a heads up on conditions?

Hi looking at the bigbury web cam i would think it was wiped out yesterday there was a good swell breaking Daveo
Tong and I went down to our lobster spot this afternoon for the low tide. The viz was down to about 2-3m with a lot of alge in the water.
There was a fair bit of swell coming in. On the lee side of the reef it was pretty calm, but the surge still came through a bit. The kelp was going mental in the current and it was proving challenging to find a single lobster.
I took the gun with me, but it was a hinderance amongst the rocks and weed.
I checked out some of the usual holes, but they were empty, but chanced upon a new one. Bingo! A nice fat lobster. It took two dives to get him out, and got a nip for my efforts, but he was in the bag.

Had a mixed weekend. Nice bass up to just over 4lb in the week. Went later in the week with friends and the viz and bass had gone. Very poor. Worse still my Omer Ice snapped mid-water! This is the second set of Ice to snap on me,
Still I drew some consolation from the naf forecast coming as it doesn't look like I'll miss much action on the south coast.
