We had a dive this morning just out of Plymouth. The tide was dropping, the water was warm and the viz in the shallows was 2m at most, so we swam out to the end of the reef where the big mullet hang out. The viz improved to about 4m, but we didn't see any fish out deep. For some reason, this reef isn't very "Lobstery" either, so we came back into the stringweed. Rowan took a nice bass, but the mullet were right in amongst the weed. My 90cm gun was just too long to swing about. So, getting annoyed, I got my womble head on and started rummaging for the big copper gas checks from artillery shells. I found three of them, so that paid for the petrol .

Went to a local spot this morning for a first light dive in the hope of a gilthead. There was a bit of a swell coming in stirring the vis up to only 1m. Give up looking for the bream and went a little further out and ended up with 3 bass. I didnt weigh them but 1 would say the biggest is between 7/8lbs

Good stuff Nick, shame about the bream though, got any flatfish action going on down there?

Yer Chris that’s some fine wombleing, copper is making good money at the moment, I weighed in a heap of old brass cartridge cases and did all right with it the other day.

Hi Paul, they are about but not had the time to dive for them. When i have the weathers been against me. I had a couple of dives back in April and May which is a bit early really. I managed a few with the biggest about 4lbs. Hope to do a bit once the weather gets better.

Went out from Sandy bay this mourning, the viz was not good but lots
of Mullet about. Managed to string a couple but should have had more.

Went in yesterday at my East Devon spider crab spot. Plenty around but nothing really big. Collected seven; smallest 3lb, biggest 3lb 10oz. Vis was variable from 1-3m. Saw a shoal of mullet fly by but couldn't get a shot off. Lots of dogfish lazing around and a couple of small flounder seen.

Interesting camera angle. How much did that one weigh?

About 5 and a half pound, but it already had some lesser legs missing I got it at Hallsands about a month ago ,plus a few others a bit smaller .

Thank you all as we all no you can eat raw scallops you should not cook them through they were cook in my opinion but hey what do I no!!
Went for a dive today could not see my hand the first 2m just brown at the bottom 1m viz I did bump into Mr. bass made his move I shot bang 6lb and on the way home stop in one of my spot, could hear the fish but the viz was to bad until mr mullet came close enough ,went home with 1bass and 1 mullet happy with that

Ollie those Scallops were spot on mate, if that was me sat in that chair I would have polished the lot off and nicked some of the old birds Olive bread to mop out the shells with.

Went out midday at Sandy bay. was not expecting much in the way of
viz and was not wrong. There was plenty of mullet around flashing about
i missed with my first two shots, then managed to string three. All in all
happy with that and the water was 14deg which is the magic number for
me, in for two and a half hours and warm as toast.
Must have just missed you Ollie how did you go?

Have looked in the bay (torbay ) and dartmouth area its a bit blown out with poor vis ,looks like another weekend out of the water , will this spell of bad weather ever end ?????
