Hi Ash, absolutely no problem at all pal. Just waiting for the weather to sort itself out so we are good to go then. What have you been catching down that way?

Thats great cheers! Well I only really use feathers just for some fun on the kayak, so the usual mackerel, pollock and the old small cod. When it gets warmer I sometimes use prawn and have a crack at the trigger fish but only had 4 last year! There were quite a few of bass being caught off the rocks both ways around to oxwich point and then around port eynon point last summer though, some really decent sizes too!

Hi all

Hope you dont mind me adding to the post..
Has anyone been out yet...
Im going in the next couple of weeks to pembroke. Got my new 6mm suit to try..

Just came back from Sri Lanka and caught good size Garupa. No wet suit was needed...

He's a cracker Jon.
I've just come back from freediving in Iceland. Amazing weekend. 150m viz!!!!

Anyway, there's a good group of us now who are going to meet up pretty soon, PirateSteve has been kinda sorting it out whilst I've been away.

Are you able to make a trip out on bank holiday weekend?

Cheers

Hi James
Good to hear from you. The Garupa in the picture was the small one, the previous day I caught a Garupa which was four times the size at least...
Bank hol weekend might be OK.
Iceland sounds cold what was it like?? Is Iceland as cold as it sounds someone said it wasnt?

good to know there is a group in Wales..

Jon inbox me you email address. I start collaborating some addresses as its seems to be the quickest method of getting word round to people.

And yeh Iceland was 2 degrees. Had a vagina coming back from there haha

Hi All,
I have never fished in Wales but this is going to be the year! I started sperfishing in UK only last year and I have been fishing in Dorset and Devon.
I will be happy to join the Welsh team for some spearsfishing so just let me know!

I fished in Llulwoth Cove last year very nice spot, I never fished in Durdle Door, I was lazy just thinking about the walk back to the parking! I checked some spots in Google Earth arround Pembroke and there are very nice bays to explore!! Not knowing the area I am just a bit worry about tides and currents.
Cheers

PirateSteve is quite knowledgable of tides and currents, he's the man that kinda decides where to go on the day! I'll nickname him the weather man!

May be a stupid question, but seen as I've never done spearfishing before, I'm looking at different guns online. Only thing is, do the guns come with the spear and all the line I'll need ect.
looking at this at the moment.. OMER CAYMAN GI 100 SPEARGUN

any thoughts would be much appreciated!
Cheers Ash!

All guns should SHOULD come with a spear, but don't quote me. Make sure you read or ask the seller beforehand. The line that will come with it will be awful but you can buy some for £2ish and you will be needing a bungee to shock absorb when the spear goes off. Check YouTube for some vids to see what I mean. I'll email you a photo of the end of my gun so you can see

Ah right ok cheers james! What do you think about the length of the gun, most of the forums on here say about 65-90cm for our waters?

I use a 75cm, it's a great gun too for the price. Seac sting 75cm I've mailed u

Was just looking at one of those actually. Yeah just seen in the picture the bungee so know what to order now thanks! With regards to the line, is there anything in particular that you recommend? Want to get everything ready so I can have a practice before making a fool of myself if bank holiday monday goes ahead!

Mate no need to be embarrassed we are all beginners :p I bought Cressi line I think it was a few quid. Here are some tutorials on the net to show you how to rig it up. Send me a list of everything you got and ill double check it to make sure hour all ready to rock :)
