i have many pairs of fins, one pair is an adjustable mares mostly for diving, a sporasub free diving fins, and some no name laying around my room back in greece. now, the sporasubs are not adjustable and when i used them i got a very painfull knee, so i am thinking of putting them aside and getting an open monofin. considering the pressure, is an open monofin stable, or will i be having problmes?

well i am a bit new to all this equipment so i really do need your saying on this:)

One of the attractions for me of moving from tech scuba to freediving was the simplicity of the equipment! But just like the computer created the paperless office NOT, freediving for me has led to more equipment than ever before! I have fins all over the house now and that includes 4 monos. I suffer from knee probs as well so would suggest getting a soft mono if you plan to go down that path. But I wouldn't look to a mono as an alternative for being nicer to your knees than bifins. I personally haven't found that to be the case....others may have a different view on that though.

no, i dont have an actuall problem with my knees, its just that when i was using the big ones, they where a bit too big for my size so they kept on bumping on the back on my foot, which after three or so days started bleeding, thats why i really want to get an adjustable ones. as for being soft, i think they should be if its my first time with them, iv heard people haveing difficulties with very stiff ones, how they make them swim sideways or something.

but yeah i know what you mean about equipment, i have had quite a few fins/maks/snorkels, but i have now found some that really do the job for me so im pretty happy, i just need to get myself a short wetsuit and the mono, oh and that bloody paradisia

anyway, thanks mate, i hope you dont get any more trouble with your knee
