Spear fishing pike in Ontario

I will say straight off that spear fishing in Ontario is illegal with the exception of two species of what look like prehistoric fish. If you get caught by the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources you can lose everything: your car, boat, etc., and face a massive fine.
Now I have never done this, but what is best for spearing large pike pike is to do a night dive. Attach your torch to your spear gun. Wear a high grain glove on your secondary hand. Grab them by the tail whilst their sleeping, and fire your spear into their head.
Works every time, or so I hear...
