Spearfishing and Freediving in Norway

Hi together, I thought I would open a thread to spearfishing and freediving in Norway since I will stay a month in Oslo, Trondheim and Kristiansund in Summer 2023.

I think it really differs where you are but here is some Information I have curated so far:

Arctic Spearfishing (North) Tromsø

Strong currents! Check out tide charts.

Algae might be poisonous (mussels as well)

Species

• Coalfish
• Cod
• Halibut
• Flounder (red spots)
• Wolffish
• Wolf eels
• Anglerfish/Monkfish (great to eat: liver)
• Lumpsucker (Apparently you can eat the Caviar and prepare it with Vodka)
• South: Pollack

Scallops, King Crab (7 hour Drive on Border to Russia)

Oslo: 17,3 (average), 19,4°C (Max.)= 5 mm?

Trondheim: 14,3°C

Kristiansund: 13,6°C

Bergen: 14,4 °C

Svolvær (Lofoten): 12,2°C

Tromsø: 10,8°C

Equipment

What would you reccomend in terms of:

Wetsuit: between 5mm und 7mm (depending where you are. I guess I would tend to 7mm? What are your thoughts on this?)

Speargun + Setup: ?

Social

Do you know people who would like to connect and take a noob spearo out? (Ready to bribe you guys with a bottle of rum brought from Germany ;-)
