Spearfishing/ freediving in colombia January

Hi Guys, so i will be traveling to Colombia with a buddy of mine in january and among other things we would like to go spearfishing and freediving.
we plan on visiting both the pacific and carribean coast. looked at places like santa marta , capurgana ect

what is the water temp at that time in the pacific? should i take a 3 or 5 mm wet suit? as it is dry season, i guess the visibility should be good.

I thinking of taking a 110 roller gun and a 7ft pole spear ( packs up in a back pack).

is shore spearing any good on either coast? or should we always find a boat to go out?

Im guessing the caribean is better for freediving than the pacific side.
