Hi all - been lurking here for a while and finally pulled the trigger on spearfishing equipment. I have a gun, small inflatable kayak, dive flag, flippers, goggles, and dreams of spearing lots of fish. I live in Maryland, and have been looking at Delaware, but am not really sure where to go and how to get started. I make pretty regular trips up to NYC so anywhere between here and there is also a go. I used to live in Egypt and did a lot of scubadiving there but never any spearfishing/freediving.
Are there any recommended guides or charters that could help me get started? I don't have tons of money, but would be willing to invest in a good learning experience to help me stay safe and get to know the ropes. Alternatively looking for a diving buddy if there is anyone in the DC/Metro area - I have a car and can drive + my kayak has two seats. Thanks!
