Spearfishing in Costa Rica?

I'm going to Costa Rica mid April and want to do a bunch of FREEDIVING and SPEARFISHING.
I'll be staying on the Caribbean coast between Manzanillo and Puerto Viejo.

Can anyone help me out with any information? I'd greatly appreciate it!

Im not sure if you can use a spear gun on the Caribbean side only pole spears!!

Is sposed to be grate tho. I live in the south pacific side for a wile so if you are going that way let me know.

Oh man, I sure hope we can use spear guns! Glad you brought it up. I didn't even think about that. Where can I find the rules and regulations?
Thanks, I don't know how much traveling we will be doing. We may just stay on the Caribbean side.
