Spearfishing in north east England

Aye, it was nice to meet you Grant, if not a little unexpected turning up on your turf!

Sadly Dave (aka the original Mr Pollock!) I have fished so little in the NE during my time here that I can't really comment on whether I see them or not. I have seen a handful but no larger than a pound and always tucked under scaurs that I find when lobstering. I don't get a lot of free time so when I do, I always seem to head to Wales rather than explore up here. Starting to regret it a little bit though as there does seem to be a small spearo community beginning to develop!

I'm working in London at the moment so am only up weekends, I haven't dived (freediving) the north east as I've mainly scuba'd up here.
I still want to try and find a pool for training too as I'm still a total novice

I don't know of meny around Newcastle but up north there is St Mary's Light House, Beadnell and Seahouses, hopefully on Sunday I will be going around French man's bay south sheilds having a look around

I'm still pretty new at it and I like to do both mostly freediving atm.

I did, the tides were out but I still managed to see a few decent crabs and the odd fish around the kelp beds the current was pretty strong as the tide came in.

All in all it was a good place to dive around I Want to try again when the tide is in

How was the visibility?
Would it disturb you if I join you sometimes?

It was brilliant for the most part but to the right hnd side of the picture it started to get murky

I have only dived in France, on the mediteranean coast. I started spear/free diving approximately 3 years ago. I swum for a few years in a swimming club
How thick is your wetsuit?

5mm wetsuit it can get pretty cold in the winter months.

Hi guys
I've been diving browns bay but keen to get out to some other spots. Total beginner to spearfishing but surfed all my life and from a family of divers so totally at home in the water.
Anyone planning any dives soon they don't mind a tag along?
