Spearfishing in the Metawai Islands

I'm taking a surf trip on a boat in the Mentawai Islands. I'd like to bring a speargun, mask, fins. Do I need a fishing license? If so, how shold I go about getting one?

As its in Indonesia You probably have to convert to Islam first

Pardon? Why would you have to do that? I live in the Middle East, and I have friends who live in Indonesia - it is not necessary to convert to Islam.

There are a few Muslims on Deeper Blue mate, be careful how you word things.

There have been strong clashes in recent Years in the Indo-Malay areas of south east Asia between different religions and some incidences of forced conversions.
It was a joke in My usual poor taste to that effect.

I am well aware there are Muslims on deeperblue.
I am Not religious, I do not favour one religion over another.
