I'm thinking about starting spearfishing, but was curious about fishing laws and where you can spearfish. I only want to do this in saltwater and was curious if a fishing license needs to be aquired. Where would be good places to spearfish around NJ?

Check w/ your state game and fish commision or marine fisheries for rules and regs. Not sure about places to spear up there though.Later.

There's really good diving and spearfishing over and up there in New Jersey, lots of stripers. Head over to the sporting goods section of Walmart or the closest sporting goods store, score a copy of the local regs while you pony up some coin for a salt water license and then call a local dive shop for the # of a local dive club. Lot's of really good divers start this way.
