Spearfishing locations near Bristol (Weston/Avonmouth/portishead)

Hi everyone,
Happy New year!
I have just moved to the Bristol area and am looking for some good spots for spearfishing that I can get to from Bristol? an hour drive max would be perfect.
Any locals know of anywhere?
Your help would be much appreciated!

Check out the Weston post, please don't jump in the Bristol channel! you've got at least a two hour drive from Bristol to find any viz :-(

The only vis you're going to get in salt water will be in Portishead marina!!

But you would be very unwelcome and do no favours to the reputation of the spearo community by jumping in there!!!!


you will need to drive at least 2 hours before you hit any vis.

Best to do some research on dorset spots; there's plenty of info on here.

Cheers guys. Going to try out Dorset for starters then. itching to get going... heard great things about spearfishing in the south west!
