Hello,
It sounds like you have an exciting trip planned! Finding local knowledge for freediving and spearfishing is key. Here's a breakdown of how you can approach this, combining general advice with ways to find specific contacts:

1. Regions in Spain for Freediving and Spearfishing:

Andalusia (especially the Costa Tropical and Strait of Gibraltar):
This region offers warm waters and diverse marine life. The Strait of Gibraltar, in particular, has strong currents and abundant fish.
The Costa Tropical is known for its clear waters and rocky coastlines, which are ideal for spearfishing.
Catalonia (Costa Brava):
The Costa Brava is renowned for its beautiful coves and clear waters. It's a popular spot for freediving and spearfishing.
The Medes Islands, a protected marine reserve, are a must-visit for freedivers.
Balearic Islands (Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza):
As you're already connected to Mallorca through FBDAS, you have a head start. The islands offer excellent conditions for freediving and spearfishing.
Each island has its unique characteristics, with varying depths, marine life, and underwater topography.
Murcia (Costa Cálida): NH E-ZPass®
This region is also known for good visibility and diverse marine life.
2. Finding Local Contacts:

Local Diving Clubs and Freediving Schools:
These are your best resources. Contacting local clubs and schools can connect you with experienced divers and spearfishermen.
Since you are a member of FBDAS, use those connections to ask for contacts in the areas you plan to visit.
Spearfishing Forums and Online Communities:
Online forums and social media groups dedicated to spearfishing and freediving can be valuable sources of information.
Search for Spanish spearfishing and freediving communities on Facebook, Instagram, and specialized forums.
Local Fishing and Diving Shops:
These shops often serve as hubs for local divers and spearfishermen. The staff can provide valuable insights and recommendations.
Local Spearfishing Federations:
Look for regional spearfishing federations in spain, they will have information and members with local knowlege.
Use your existing connections:
Since you are already a member of a dive club in mallorca, you should ask your contacts within the club for contacts in the other regions you will be visiting.
3. Important Considerations:

Spearfishing Regulations:
Ensure you are fully aware of and comply with local spearfishing regulations. These regulations can vary by region and may include restrictions on species, size limits, and permitted areas.
Since you have a spearfishing licence in spain, make sure that it is valid for the regions you visit.
