Hi Muttley, believe I responded to another of your posts. I'm back in Canada now and launched my boat about ten days ago in Lund. We sailed up to the Quadra Cortes area but the visibility was perhaps the worst I have ever seen. Having said this I should mention I didn't dive below 31 feet, some times up here you can go through the vegetable soup and below 35 feet it's thirty foot vis. I dive the north end of the strait quite a bit. Generally kelp greenling are common, very tasty, though a little small. Legal size ling you have to hunt for, I have seen them in 26 feet of water, but not very often, sometimes I catch them with a jig in 200 feet of water. If you are into rock scallops you will be happy, look for a place with current, not much, even just a half knot and you will see their smiling faces. Most of the more prominent points that stick out into large passages have a fair amount of current, good hunting ground for fish scallops etc. I kind of just sail around between Nanaimo and Quadra island during the summer, my boat is called Po Chai, a black hulled 41 foot sloop, usually can be found in Von donop, or squirrel cove or mansons landing or drew harbour, if you are out and about and see me please drop by for a beer, cheers.
