i still love it at the end when scotts fish came to life and tried to get away LOL it was alot better being there

Well, Lake Wingra Proved to be very good today- 14 Crappies and 1 Perch- Vis was decent at 10'

Vis around here has been good, but wont be for long, vis in sunset is 20-30 FOW. The river stands at about two, and bear lake is getting close to ten...at which point it will be time for the yearly crappie culling. Mainly been hitting lake michigan when Im diving.

Went to Crystal Lake in Marquette Co - yesterday with Tass. We had very good Vis!!! up to 30 foot. There were a few areas with some nice Crappies! I ended up shooting 5 with the biggest being 13.5" 1.5 lbs. I hope to get back there next week sometime. Will post pic of the fish in a bit.

Dude, what happened to the invitation I was promised last year?

Sorry man- it was a last min discussion with tass to go. I plan on going there again this next week. Maybe tues or Monday. or Wed, thur.

a crappie from Crystal Lake from last week. Planning on going there Monday (June 15th) around 1/2pm till about 7ish.

Going to Wood Lake instead of Crystal. (Marquette Co) should be there around 2pm-ish

Went to Wood Lake- Vis was decent about 15' in the good spots- got worse as we went shallower. Also got worse when the Ski Boats started flying around the lake. Lots of Medium sized BG, Crappies and small Perch. Tass did fairly decent with 15 or 19- can't remember. I got 4 good sized BG. Water temp was 73.

Went to ELKHART LAKE near Sheboygan today. The water Temp was 73 degrees, vis was 5-12'. There were a lot of boater out today, which I think messed up the vis. There were also a lot of Fish especially Perch, but they were all SMALL to medium. There wasn't one that I considered shooting. I covered about 1/3 of the lake from the Boat launch throughout the north side of the lake. The plant in the last pic was kinda cool. It held a lot of fish almost reminded me of some sort of coral. Even if there weren't boats everywhere- I don't know if I would return to this lake- at least for spearfishing.

You missed the good spearing there Whopperhead. I work about 15 min from Elkhart so I get to go there quite frequently. The visability took a turn for the worse this last week, up until now it was almost 20 ft. There's a good crappie population and plenty of perch above 9". There's also a decent carp population, they like to hang out in the southwest bay. No gas motors are allowed on sunday, so they're much more peaceful and safe to spear. If you go make sure that you have you license and dive flag, Elkhart Lake has its own sheriff that's on patrol full time.

Sweet- maybe I'll go with you sometime. Is the Boat launch the only public access? I always have my license and Flag is Regulation size. Thanks for the input.

Good reporting and photos, Scott!

Duckinator, that's quite a potpourri of fish you landed. Thanks for your addition to the conversation. I look forward to learning more about this lake. I don't think I'd visiti it more than once a year, but I wouldn't visit at all if there was no chance of landing dinner.

There's also a public beach on the south east end of the lake near the resort. I've heard they charge an access fee though. I have a fishing boat with a trolling motor that I usually bring. I went out today with a coworker who's just getting into spearfishing. I gave him my gun and just dove around most of the day. I found a few large clumps of zebra mussels in 35 fow, which is bad for the lake, but will be good for visibility in the future. If I had the gun I could have put a smack down on the carp today, they were all over. I shot one near the end after he got cold and got out. Crappies were hard to come by but definitely still there. Let me know any weekend that you want to go out.

I found a way to get the pics off my camera with out the cord

I dont know where you guys are doing this? But I respect you for finding the vis around here...Im a spoiled little girl after doing diving in Florida and more importantly Hawaii...Lake Michigan isnt far enough away to make me want to hunt for those little lakes you guys are finding. Once our go-to ones are done after the spring, its pretty much the river and Lake Michigan for the rest of the summer. Camping...Day trips. Whatever. All the time. At least two days every other week. Its a hoot.

yeah thanks and the other thing is that we dont have to many lakes that have great vis for crappies but some of our best spots only have 6 to 12 foot vis so its up close and personal with them.
