As it looks - I'm probably done going to Lake Michigan for the year. So, I've compiled my videos and threw a song in there. It's weird- sometime I can upload a High Def version and days like today- youtube wouldn't let me- it's not over the limit- so, I don't know- The Hi Def version will be on the DVD though.

I was out on one of the wrecks yesterday and the seas didn't seem to want us. We started out in 2-3's and quickly found oursleves in 5's+. After one dive we called it as the scuba divers were getting a bit beat up- and so was my stomach!:yack

Surface temps were around 70F but the thermocline has moved up to 40'. It was around 41' below that, but the vis was great. My dives maxed out at 60' becuase my stomach was getting too unsettled suring my breath ups. I almost grabbed a tank just so I could get below the waves for a while and let things settle out.

Here's a couple of shots, but they don't do the lake conditions justice for how rough it was.

Another instructor told me there were some nice sized perch hanging out a bit deeper- around 75'. If we had a bit calmer water I might have even had a shot at them, but not yesterday.

Lake mendota is still green, though it has cleared up a touch. Vis is anywhere from .5-3 feet depending on wind. Hopefully the chain will clear up soon so I can get wet. I have an itchy trigger finger.

Duck, join us in a couple weeks man! It should be a good time, we just have to settle on a location!

Sounds good to me. I live in downtown Madison, so I'll most likely be able to meet up with you guys. Have you decided on a date? I'll keep you updated as to the condition of the lake.

ill be driving duck and IL so if you guys want to ride with me and whop let me know ill take the car seats out of the truck and we will have plenty of room for carp to be thrown

21st, there is another thread about it.... The lake choice seems to be up for debate still

well ask scott ill go were ever so were ever you guys want to go let me know

I took a ride up to Tinney Locks on Lak eMendtoa and if you peeked below the green layer on the surface it seemed to be getting a lot clearer underneath. I don't know if Ted has any offical numbers these days, but I'd like to start jumping in around here as soon as it clears up a bit more.

Depending on which way the wind is blowing you can get up to 5-7 foot vis. I've taken a few short dives in Mendota near memorial union. If the wind's blowing the wrong way though.....pea soup.

Mendota is lik that.

We get 30'-40' of vis there in April and by July it's so thick that all light gets blocked out by time you hit 20'. It clears up again in the fall and will stay nice until ice over.

Dotey and I are planning on going to Lake Geneva for one last Attempt at getting fish- I would also like to stock up on some for my freezer and the cookout. I was thinking of going to the Far West end of Lake Geneva- We'll see how that spot is first. Should be there aroung 9ish. If anyone is interested in meeting us or a needs a ride- PM me tonight.

yeah at lake wazee it was neat to go deep i just need to get time to keep working on diving

Dotey and I hit the WESTSIDE of Lake Geneva and were not disappointed. Lots of fish everywhere- Alot of small fish, but enough to keep me interested. There were also some HUGE hogs- including the Pig dotey shot. Saw some HUGE Walleye and thousands of tiny Perch. I did end up shooting 1 bluegill and 1 Perch about 8". I also shot 1 Carp and had another one on the spear that would of beat dotey's - but it came off!

I also got to try out my x-scooter - IT ROCKS! I had a boat cruising right towards me as I was diving in the deeper water and kicked the scooter in gear and got out of there. It was alot of fun.

Vis was about 12' and water temp was 64/65.

This Carp brings my year total to 110 (113 Unoffically)

Has anyone checked the vis on Mendota lately? I'm wondering what the conditions will be like for the cookout. With Geneva being full of fish and having good vis I hope Mendota can match that or at least be spearable for the day of the cookout.
