Spearing/Clarity reports - S.E. Wisconsin

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Sorry to hear about camera Kevin. I found the dry box at wallmart works great (sports section) thanks.

Has anyone been out or know how Mendota or Monona is right now?

Madison lakes are mixed and relatively clear - certainly diveable. Temp is 50F...maybe a little cooler. It's always a trick finding fish this time of year. A boat helps, as you can zip from spot to spot.

hmm... well I guess it's alright that I can't go out this weekend then. Thanks for the info unirdna!

Hello everybody
Well the dentist hasn't yet finished his remodeling but soon I will have the only mouth customized for a snorkel. OK not really. I got a question that I did not answer for myself this year. I am assuming that spearguns when fired cause the front to kick down? Yes? NO? I am trying to figure out how to mount my camera and the easiest would appear to do so via the hollow grip, however since this would appear to be the easiest experince tells me it would not be the best to view spear impact? Any suggestions

The muzzle rises. Most build mounts that are on top and towards the back. There are many different home grown methods. I've never done it, so I dunno what to suggest.

Thanks for the info. I was thinking of drilling holes in the side of the hollow handle of my AB biller and installing a screw type mechanism that will allow a camera to be swiveled up an down. details are still sketchy in the head but I will try and post pictures of it once completed. Hopefully I wont have time as I just recently applied for a transfer to our FL campus and with any luck will be to busy doing interviews and then moving. It would be such a shame to have to move to the town next to Daytona even though its not the best area for free diving but it does get me a lot closser to prime waters.

LOST BANDIT.

If any of you guys jump in Mendota before the freeze, take a good look in the area in front of the Center of Limnology (a smidge west of the dock, about 150 yards out). I dropped an Omer Bandit in about 15-20 feet of water - on the outside of the weed line. I hope to go back in after it before freeze. But, would appreciate you guys taking a look if you happen to be there.

Thanks. Ted.

I had a chance to go jump in the lake today. Water was 36F and the fish were moving so slow I could swim up and grab them- at least I could grab the carp, the musky weren't going to let me get so close. Vis was around 20', but there was particulate in the water from the winds that had been blowing over the past few days.

I didn't see any panfish, but I wasn't spearing so it didn't matter. I did mange to find, another, anchor to add to my collection. I was trying out something new with my monofin- using 3mm socks instead of 6mm- and had no issues with cramping, but my feet froze out long before the rest of me did. I may try and make some over boots for the fin, or just use my 5mm socks next time. It's a work in progress.

Jon
