Hi, i've just moved to newccastle and was wondering if anybody could tell me some good spearfishing spots around here. my mate wants to come with me but he can only dive to 20 feet of so hence in that range would be good. spots that dont require boats such as around headlands would also be good.

thanks:)

Hi Daniel,
Sorry I don't live in your area but there are some easy ways to find a good dive spot. Firstly is the drive around the coast, looking for entry and exit points, protected areas and good reefy bottoms with lots of channels and some weedy / sandy areas. Also check with the locals at the boat ramps, they normally have helpfull info as well.
I dive with buddys frequently who are only learning so we set up with them on the shallow side and I run the deep side. We do well on our dives and learn a lot along the way.
Good luck:)
