Good!I was already planning to come next weekend but since my girlfriend will be in UK for two weekend I'll probably take her on the kayak and spearfish. Any chance to get in during the week? An evening? Where did you go?

An evening would be good for me, I could be ready by 6pm, with the boat we could get a couple of hours good spearing on the reefs no worries and still be in bed in time for the lab in the morning 
Anyway let me know when you can manage a weekend and we can spend the whole day out trying out all the decent marks

Is that tonight now? If so then it looks good as it is now. Send me a text to let me know you are coming and I'll let my missus know not to cook tea for me. I have a meeting this afternoon but will be home no later than 6, so if I'm a little late can you take the cover off the boat and hook the engine on the back (my missus will show you where it is)
Went for a quickie this morning, very good viz close into the shore, maybe 10m but dropping off sharply as you clear the rocky outcrops to 3m or so.
Largely uneventful dive apart from one hilarious incident. I was hiding in some kelp in about 5 - 6m after a good quiet dive. I'd only been there say 15 seconds when I see a large object moving on my right just on the edge of my mask rim. So I turn my head to look and see that whatever was moving wasn't just big it was huge; Then I notice that it has fins/flippers on its sides. The first thing that came into my head was it's a turtle. Then all of a sudden this shape launches itself out of the murk just in front of me just at the end of my spear tip. Well I tell you I nearly shat myself this all happened so fast and I must have gone rigid in a star shape or something and I shouted " F@@@@ING HELL!!!!". It was a huge seal pale grey in colour, well I must have scared it rigid too as it did exactly the same thing as me rofl the poor thing did the star thing too and its eyes looked like it had seen great white rofl So at that point we both shot off in opposite directions rofl Jeez what a fright rofl

Wow, thats amazing, a similar thing happened to me today too!!
Except i was at Knowsley Safari park not in the sea :t, and it was a sea lion not a seal
, and it was behind glass 
, and i wasn't in the water , and i wasn't doing apnea :vangry..... but apart from that it was exactly the same rofl
I wish i was diving though, see you soon.
p.s. I was at far more risk than you round there though Pastor
p.p.s And there was some scallies nicking the wind screen wipers off the cars!! Even the baboons round scouse land are a bit :martial

rofl Never been to Knowsley, it was enough of a safari to walk up Smithdown road when I was a kid, plenty of wild life up there rofl
I just didn't expect to see anything so big. I always keep half an eye out for seals when I'm out in case the nick my fish but this guy took me by surprise rofl

I went for a long day out yesterday with kayak and girlfriend. Lack of fish all day long, I would say absolutely nothing around, except for wrasse and small pollacks...I was frustrated but I believed in the sunny and nice unexpected day and finally with the high tide and the sunset bass started to be around. Got 8 fish, the biggest 6 pounds and the rest all good size (except for one...I must admit, it was a terrible mistake of 300 grams cos of the vis!!). Total about 10kg though! Finally after many efforts (and miles driven around all england!) some fish!

I had a day trip to North Wales today on business and popped over to Anglesea to check out some old haunts. Checked the viz from Beaumaris pier and it was thick with algae - you'd struggle for spearing viz there. Do you guys spear the straights? It looks superb if you can work the tide!!
Last time I was on the island was in 1997 - not a lot has changed! There was a nice del Quay Dory + engine + trailer for sale in the boat park next to the slip, under the Menai Bridge...Looked like a perfect outfit to me! Must buy a lottery ticket...
You live in a beautiful part of the world - hope the spearing is as good!

I daydream about spearing the straights at approximately 8.00am EVERY morning when going over the bridge, and so does Pastor!! Ive never been but i know that Pastor's done some fishing there in the past.

Just been in with John141267 for a late evening dip, saw a few small schoolies and one about 2 1/2 - 3 lb in the shallows but didn't get a chance to aim at it. A bit disappointing really, I think Dario cleaned them all out yesterday

Pastor too bad no fish yesterday! Were you in the water for the high tide?
I was wondering where the bass had been all day on sunday for appearing all together in 40-50m of coast with the high tide!I was thinking sleeping in the kelp but I didn't hear them to run away under me all day!This is a mystery!
The bigger had the stomach full of a dozen of small fish!They were definitely hunting!

We spent out time last night in deeper water ~ 400m out, normally that would have paid off but we saw more in the shallows on the high tide. They don't bolt away when you swim over them in the kelp they usually stay still unless you get too close but even then they can be hard to see. Mid afternoon isn't a good time on that piece of coast, I never bother.
