hi everybody,

I am very interested in sperm whales.

I hope to be able to have a chance
to freedive with them from August on.+

Whale scientist Hal Whitehead
(Dalhousie Univ. Canada)
while snorkelling/freediving in the open ocean,
actually witnessed a sperm calf being
born in the open ocean

I'll be looking for them in the cold Humboldt Current
and around the Galapagos Islands
in my engineless sailboat 'Tehani'

Sperm whales feed mostly on squid
(but also on all kinds of fish,
including deep`sea sharks)

I have taken squid with my arbalete,
maximum 16 inches(40 cm) long.

Q: Has anyone out there seen big(ger) squid
while freediving? How close to shore?

thanks,

...peter
