Ok Newbie i will pm Jim when the time comes, but as i have said my mamba kit is priority for me 
These ice fins must be damn good as everyone seems to have a pair

On subprof.com the Ice Fins are currently US$176.96 plus US$65.87 for shipping to Oz, it sucks how these are $499 in shops here just like every other hugely overpriced piece of diving equipment! In regard to the Omer Millenium Runners they are meant to be stiffer than the Ice but same design though, plus they don't look anywhere near as cool as the Ice.
P.S I'm saving up for either a 100cm Mares Sten, or 110cm Cyrano and looking at installing a Mamba kit, do you think as the Sten has a 13mm inner cane diameter compared to the cyrano's 11mm it would be better for "mambatising"?

True, they don't look as cool, but they aren't stiffer either. The black Mileniums are, but not the Runner. Believe me, I had a long chat with the agent and even lied them next to each other and proofed their flex. (Not that it does matter anyway...) I'm happy with them, uuuhhm at least I thought so, but now I want the Ice too. Thanks for that

I used my Ice fins on a scuba cattle (tourist) boat the other day. Everyone thought I was nuts 'till we got in the water and the blades disappeared (oooh, wow)! And the real proof was when I outswam both buddies, and came up with 500psi more in my tank at the end of the dive. As reference, one of my buddies was using Apollo bio fins, the other was using Atomic Aquatics split fins.

Hey Jamie, I'm thinking about getting a new pair of fins, my current pair is a pair of Picasso Black team fins that are pretty scratched up but still work great, they are bullet proof! If you are doing a lot of boat dives they are great but atleast 75% of the time I will be shore diving and they are pretty stiff once you get them in cold water. *If you bought picasso's they would be the last pair of fins you need to buy as stated above, they are bulet proof.* Check ebay for them, there is currently a pair in the US atm for around $100 plus about $49 for shipping. I was thinking about buying them and using my current foot pockets as the seller only has 40-42 and 46-48. Worth looking into. BTW Picasso Camo black teams RRP is $260-$280? Thats AUS$
*Note to all readers, these fins are not literally bullet proof and I accept no responsibility if anyone decides to use them as a shield against bullets in the unlikely event of a shooting!

I think for me as i am very unfit lazy b#$%ard i need the softer fins. The stiffer ones wil certainly hurt my ankles.

Well now there's a good excuse to go out and get fit, your wife will enjoy your longevity. Haha but seriously they shouldn't hurt you too much, those stealth fins you tried were a bad fin to try first up. They aren't shocking but they do need some work to be a good fin. I'd say the reason they hurt your ankles is because the foot pocket is soft where the blade meets the pocket. A good fin has a stiff sole so the power isn't lost between your foot and the blade. I guess the sole of the foot pocket is a little like your core muscle in your body, if you have weak core muscles then you won't be able to run or ride a bike efficeintly, or swim efficeintly for that matter. You can get the picasso's in a green/softer blade. same with the omer
I am going to MOD my Black Millenium fins with profiles, and inside the groove of the rubber profile I am going to stick a thin carbon tip used for fly rod ends in both grooves where I will glue them in. (I am going to test them prior to glueing of course) to stiffen up the flex pattern slightly! I wtill want them to flex just not as much. and 9.00US for profiles, and 4.00US for rod ends is fairly cheap to get stiffer apnea fins with better characteristics than stock fins.
I will post the pics of the MOD and the results when I get to it.

Not sure if I understood tbgsub well, but I thought he wanted to split the blades and stiffen the edges (what is necessary at split fins, otherwise you won't get the right profile and the propeller effect). But it is also possible I only let me confused by the thread title, and in fact he did not want any split fins.

which one should I cut and paste this one in. I dont think split fins are good for Freediving below 20ft, because they use more oxygen than they consume getting back up, and in current they arent practical on a breath hold.

have any of you ever flexed the tip of a fly rod? Very FLEXY actually, so any stiffness they will provide will actually be slight. I may allow them to bend inside the profile section so that the flex will not be overly rigid. e.g. glueing them in solid would give me a deadspot plank for sure. I want the tiny thin carbon tube to actually be able to move freely a little inside the profile groove to allow flex! I want FLEX! just a Stiffer FLEX than the current Milleniums, (no they arent planks actually I am finding them to flexy for depth below 25M, maby it is my legs who knows) and I want to experiment and controll that flex! Maby make it flex near the Toe pocket to create a dynamic directional blade, as if they were thinner at the toe, and thicker at the tip,(mabe the opposite) similar to other experimental blades. But I very much want the fins to have a profile that is controlled.
of course I need to see how much the profiles themselves stiffen up the blades, I may not even need the flyrod tips at all!
we will see. trust me I am going cautiosly. they are my second pair of fins, my other pair is the Gara 3000LD really soft, but I like them for short depths and long off shore shallow fishing. I need a deep dive set for from the boat diving and fishing.
what I do hope is that adding profiles doesnt increase the risk of breaking the thermal plastic milleniums! that would suck and pretty much defeat the whole purpose. maby I should just pony up and get some fiber fins huh?
