Sporasub Elite Pro vs. Omer Millenium?

I am looking at getting a fin with interchangable fins, but wanted to know which of these two was better. As well as which would offer better options for upgradeability (replacing with more advanced blades eventually).

I think this is going to be a matter of which foot pocket you like. I've owned Sporas and I found the pocket boxy. I also don't like the rounded blade tips because they seem conducive to side-slipping. However there are plenty of people who really like the Sporasub foot pocket.

Yeah, I have narrow flatter feet, and I love the spora foot pocket, I put millenium blades on them with a little modification. So really, either way you're set, just buy the one that fits best.

I agree its when it comes to fins, I find the following very important.

1. Fit, nothing worse than diving with an ill fitting pair of flippers too big and they fall off or shafe. Too small and they restrict blood flow to your feet and it becomes very painfull.

2. Stiffness and compount. No matter which medium to high end flipper you use, make sure you choose the right stiffness. If you do allot of shore/shallow dives, then a soft compound is best if you want to use the fins for shorediving and boat diving then a medium compound is best value for money, and if you only plan to dive from a boat i find the hard compounds work really well.

Even though most people on this site prefers sporasub, omer, elios etc my favourite fin is still the IMERSION great fitting footpocket good for surface and deep diving. But thats personal taste.

In a perfect world they would let you demo the equip before you buy it

Which fin is best is a bit of a "how long is a piece of string?" question.

So just to complicate matters let me answer with another question. Why not Omer Ice 3's? They are one of the best all round fins available and are becoming "the" fin of choice for a lot of divers.

Like everybody said, foot pocket fit is very individual. Try'em if you possibly can.

The spora pocket in the link is not the old "dessault" pocket, but looks almost the same. It should fit any blade that the omer will fit. You might have to drill a hole or two.

Does anybody have experiance with the spora "elite" pocket? How does it differ from the "dessault"?

I have a pair of old Sporasub (dessault) footpockets, as well as a couple of pairs of the newer HD footpockets. The older style was quite a bit softer than the HDs. I use the old pair with very short blades for pool training. I don't need the long blades, and they get in the way. I use the HDs for ocean work. I've been using Picasso footpockets with SpecialFins blades for the last couple of years, but am switching back to the Sporasubs because the b lades fit into the footpockets without being glued in. I was in Kona in January and had a blade come out. That day was over, and I had to use my Churchills for the next 2 days while the glue cured. The only down side for me with the Sporasubs is the bottom of the footpocket is softer, changing the feel of the fins. But, I'd rather have fins that are reliable than the "best
" combination.

If you do not have access to a lot of foot pockets to try on before you buy check out this thread to help you narrow down one that may fit your foot size better.
