I was practically given a used pair of sporasub pures. I like these fins plenty. ( And this from a Cressi Gara HF supporter. ) They are stiff and long , about 4" longer than the HF's and as stiff. They are also much stiffer than the newer pair he had and very much stiffer than even another pair i compared them to.
Do Pures come in different stiffnesses?

As stiff as they are, one of the blades is stiffer than the other. The weaker blade also is showing whitened signs of stress on the backside, about half way down the blade in two long marks down either side of the centre indent.

This looks to be as a result of compression of the rear layers of material when kicking. ie the blade bends backward and the rear layers becomes squashed whilst the front layers must stretch.

Question. Can this stuff be re resin'ed, rebaked, strengthened ?

I was told that sanding down the stresses till the fibre is exposed and then putting new resin on will fix it. If so what resin ? The blade has a black tape like layer - carbon? - perhaps 2" wide running across the problem area in contrast to the herringbone weave of the blade. Can more of this be put on to strengthen this area ?

These fins seem to have endured much scratching too. Can resin or clear coat something be used to fill scratches and smooth the blade again ?

Howdoo, Skin.

Your carbon fins are laminated with epoxy, which differing from the usual polyester that is used for surfboards, allows the fins to have some flex. They're also most likely compression molded, where the carbon fabric is wet out with the resin then put between a set of matched mold halves that have the ribs and other features in them. Then they're plugged in and heated to ensure the cure... pretty involved stuff.

You can try to abrade the area(s) around the delamination/damage and coat the area with resin, but getting it into the fabric between the strands is going to be about as possible as my ex Mother in Law respecting me. :blackeye it ain't gonna be nothing but superficial and will chip and flake off. if you want to try scuffing up the area and laminating a strip of carbon unidirectional material over the bad area, it'd be more likely to act as a splint, but I wouldn't want to warranty it.

I guess for the price you paid, you still can't gripe.
