Oh yes, IMHO Omer is now much better than Spora in everything. And IMHO the Omer Excalibur is the best in the world within the range of cheap guns. But also the viper was a good project: a lightweight 30mm gun with integrated shaftguide, accurate but handy, was unique and very smart. Pity that so many guns leak.

good thing that they are an easy fix. I tightened down the screws last night...hope I dont have to order barrel plugs.

Sporasub product line can't be compared with the Omer line. But we can compare the Viper with the Excalibur, who are both cheap guns...

I have used Sporasub black viper and excalibur carbon guns and they have both caught lot's of fish and not given me any problems maintenance-wise. I think the Excalibur has the edge just, from an aesthetic point of view. Has anyone tried the Sporasub Instinct? Does it suffer from leaky barrel too?

I own five vipers two of them leak, I've corrected the problem with barel plug (I've used the rob-allen plug), it requires a lots of sanding. I wish I knew about the valetim plug.
I think the black vipers with a single 20 mm band and 6.5 mm shaft are a killing machine, I bought my first in 1997 and never had any problems with it (besides the original reel - cheap and durable). I switch to the imersion reel (with the barel plug), that is a great combination. I am going try the open muzzles next with one circular 20 mm band.
These are very good guns for the buck

Correction

The imersion reel are cheap and durable, the original viper reel is really bad.

I don't know if you have a better american source for Imersion reel, but there are these reels on ebay that I'm pretty sure are Imersion reels, and starts at 23.00$

I always get mine in scuba store , the price is 11.57 usd. But I agree with you I think those ebay reels are the imersion reels.

For omer:
Imersion is a brand, a trademark of a manufacturer: Imersion reel is like saying Ford car, Sony stereo or Dell Computer. Ok? How's your viper behaving?

Ohhhh ,i see , ok now i got the massage my viber is ok doing good i like it .
is it better to fit two 16mm bands or shall i stick with mine [single 20mm]

Well I don't like FORD's, I would say the imersion reel is like a 1980s Japanese car. It is strong, does not lock, it has a good drag control and I don't have tangling problem but does not hold a whole lot of line. You need to drill and plug the barrel in order to install the reel (also drill the reel). But you can't beat the price 11.57 usd in scuba store. I would only install it on aluminum barrels.

It is a very good reel for the black viper, mainly because it is very light, the gun will still floats without the shaft, also very low profile (don't loose mobility).
