SS spear vs quench spring steel

Hi ,

I have questions for those who tried quench Spring spears from RA or spearmaster or any others and hardening SS from other brands (omer, salvimar etc) , if u have a gun with a 7mm spear , 30 cm overhang quench spring steel and u need to replace it with hardened SS what will be the difference ?shall u replaced with bigger diameter and shorted OH so 7.5 mm and 20 cm overhang to get same character ?or keep the same ratio?

I'm not familiar with the term "quench steel" but I've never noticed a difference between my plated shafts and my stainless shafts of the same diameter.
