Stay calm and relax under water

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Get the cylinders tested frequently. In Sydney: <some URL that moderators removed> Safe diving!

Errr... What is this supposed to mean in this otherwise rather interesting thread?

...I'm also learning this now. Especially in dynamic I'm having trouble: finding the contractions being very hard and frequent (read: unbearable) right from the start. "Emptying the mind" sound great but it also sounds a bit like: "try not to think about a yellow elephant". And of course, then, you think about one... :)

It'll take practice.
I just (and finally!!!) got Umberto's "Manual of freediving". Looking forward to spending time with it and learning a lot!

Hmm, looks like spam. We'll take care of that, thanks Jo ;)

I think relaxation is everything, and part of that relaxation is that knowledge is power. Know your water, know the tides, current and weather as best you can and use it, work with nature and not against it, having confidence that you know your surroundings will make relaxing easier when spearing. For instance, I know that if I go in at any time other than slack water, I am going to drift along the coast around my way and to fight it is going to make relaxing into a dive impossible, which is fine when I am spearing, however when trying CNF I am not yet confident enough to go in when the tide is running well, the whole thing becomes dangerously exhausting, especially in cold water.
