Dove the USS Oriskany Aircraft Carrier last wednesday on one of my friends charters. Had also dove it a few days before that on saturday when I shot a couple grouper, but the viz was way better wednesday, and I put together a video of wednesdays footage (I will be posting saturdays eventually after I edit it)

The Oriskany is over 900 feet long, and is the worlds largest artificial reef. It was sunk 25 miles outside of the Pensacola, FL pass in 212 feet of water. The top of the super-structure (tower) is at 68 feet, and the flight deck sits at 137 feet giving that alone about 70 feet of relief. Due to the blue water she is in offshore, there were times last summer you could see the flight deck as soon as you got in the water, over 140 feet of viz. Wednesday was about 70 feet.

I used my homemade helmet-cam that I made with one of my old chopper helmets and a curtain rod bracket that I get all my footage with so I can still spear, and it is not super high quality, but it is decent. Rember I am not a pro, I just capture our dives for fun and to make movies to torture my poor relatives and friends still living up in Metro-Detroit.
If you have dove the "O", you have seen most of this, but if not, it is sweet to see just how massive it is, and how much there is to see. It is like an underwater shopping mall with stairways, entrances, ect. Good footage of down on the flight deck, and a little below to some of the hanger entrances.

When you click on the "DIVING THE USS ORISKANY" movie on the webpage. Be patient and let it load up till it is 100% buffered. Make sure to have your sound on, cuz of course there is a sweet ass soundtrack as usual!

If you ever get a chance to come this way, you do not want to miss diving this. Not to mention the other great spearfishing wrecks around here. My friends charter company info (catering to spearfishers) is on the main page of our website also, as well as a great local dive shop (full service with nitrox, tri-mix, ect) that had a major part in the coordination of getting this sunk here. If you ever do book a charter with him, I will probabaly get to meet you and dive with you since I also go out with him on most of his trips!

Welcome To TEAM CHUNKY LOVE

Hope you guys enjoy it!
