Oh, so they do break. I didn't know that, I just thought the waves rose up over the reef then flattened back out. Amazing!

Sarge that isnt Cortez Bank . But yea cortez gets huge! And breaks perfectly .Jacks up onto that reef from super deep water , as well as teahupo.

Teahupo ..for example breaks in about 2ft-4ft of water . Yea those big ass waves break in that shallow of water. Nutz

Like a clean version of the wedge. Thanks for the info, I'd never seen than spot before.

No such luck. Some friends introduced me to California body surfing (very different from east coast style) at Huntington beach a long time ago. I saw the wedge breaking on a medium day and decided it was too crazy for me. Still, I never lost the bug. Chase big waves whenever they are available in Florida. Every now and then it gets pretty decent here. Sunday I was out in a beautiful, glassy, 6 ft (face), 13 second swell. Monday was double the height and 14 seconds, but I had to work. . . . next time.

Right on , the wedge is awesome when its like 20 ft ! Crazy body surfers , and the occasional surfer .

Nothing better than glass and big . Have you ever surfed outer banks over in i think NC ?
