Suunto d3

My much loved and very outdated depth gauge gave up the ghost a while ago and so now I need to "upgrade" from the stone age and buy an "all singing all dancing" dive computer and ive got my eyes on the SUUNTO D3

If any one out there fancies parting with there D3 for a resonable price please give us a shout

scott, travel to dahab, buy one there - they're much cheaper over there and that way You have an excuse why You need to get to Egypt.

Sanso that sounds like a great idea I could do with some sun:t.

I dont think the other half will be best pleased, im still trying to warm her to the idea of 3 days camping in the channel islands this summer.

I have to reccomend the D3 Scottwilson mine has been brilliant.

Mine broke down inside the year but in fairness, the local Suunto dealer replaced it free of charge, even though I did'nt buy it from him. A lot of them had some kind of glitch which is ironed out now.
As a tool to measure and improve diving performance I found and still find it very useful. I'd say it has helped me a lot. I don't usually look at it while I'm underwater but check it when I surface. It's surprising how soon you can know to the nearest foot how deep you were. My guesses are nearly always within 1 or 2 feet of the D3 reading.
On dives over 20ft I use it to time surface intervals to double the previous dive time.

Ah, btw, Scott. Have You searched the forums for info on dive computers?

The d3 does have some issues, one of which is physical durability, I've seen several with broken buttons and such. -
A major advantage is the open protocol that the d3 (and other suuntos, AFAIK) uses to talk to computers via the data cable. So there's free software around that will allow You download Your data also to a GNU/Linux system or the likes.
