Hi There,

I'm a newbie. Just a quick note that I tried on a D4 and while I loved the watch and have heard really good things about it.......the strap just didnt fit me. I have quite small (girly) wrists and the increments on the D4 strap were quite large so the the watch was either too loose or too tight.

Just in case you're a woman looking into D4 - recommend trying it on first.

The Cressi EDY looks good to me but I dont like the fact there's no stopwatch.

The aeris f.10 strap has small increments. Better for a perfect fit.

I have a D4 and very small wrists - it works fine. Also, it is the gauge that AIDA uses for depth competitions and all the competitors must put on an "official" gauge before their dive. Seems to work for the variety of wrist sizes of the divers- girls and guys.

How many 'underwater hours' are other divers getting out of a D4 battery?

Mine is 18 months old and has a bit over 48 hours on it. A friend's D4 is one month older and had 49 hours on it when the battery died (on a remote island with no chance of a replacement) a couple of weeks ago

The underwater hours are not the only factor. Already the capacity of a new battery may differ quite significantly. Then it depends also on other modes of use - alarms, background light, .... And one of the most important aspects that will significantly decrease the battery life is letting the watch in a wet bag during transport from the beach or pool (or even after) - keeping the contacts wet longer than necessary will drain the battery rather fast.

Normally, when the battery indicator starts showing low power, you may still be able to dive a few days with it, but if you plan going to a remote place with a battery 18 months old, you better have it replaced before. You can also take a spare one with you, and change it yourself when needed. The D4 officially does not have a user-replaceable battery, but if you check the web, you'll find detailed instructions how to do it yourself anyway.

Anyone had problems with D4 and reviewing dive logs?
My D4 now q little over 2 yrs old has gradually slowed down when I try review my individual logged dives - almost like as if the memory is too full(593 dives so far 55 hours) and it slowed up like a pc.
Lately when going to "memory", "log book" it simply gives "end of logs" when I try access the most recent dives. Only updates i get are the dive history that shows any longer or deeper dives.
The freedive functions are still functional though while diving.
I have been really happy with my D4 and it freedive functions.
Any tips??
