I've used both in the last month. Not much difference. Do you want scuba capability or a countdown timer? Might be as simple as that.

Personally I own a Mosquito, and one of my diving buddies has a D3.

Both are great for freediving.

The difference is not big. One thing to consider is that the Mosquito leaves freedive mode after about 5-6 minutes in the surface. When you then dive, it takes around 10 seconds for the mosquito to switch back to freedive mode. Therefore the first 10 seconds of the dive profile is missing and the dive time shows 10 seconds to short.

The D3 leaves the freedive mode after longer time in the surface, and it is faster to change back to dive mode.

During normal freediving it is not a big problem, but for constant weight traing, you usually spend 5-15 mins. in the surface. You must then manually change back to freedive mode, or accept that 10 seconds of your dive will be missing.

Btw. the depth alarm in both computers is a bit quiet, and it is very hard/impossible to hear it when wearing a hood over the ears.
